Doctor Who - Season 8

Last week, this classic British sci-fi television series wrapped its eighth season since its 2005 reboot. The show features an alien - the titular Doctor, played by a different actor every few years - and his human companion adventuring through time and space. This year, the Doctor was played by a 56-year-old Scotsman (Peter Capaldi), who is accompanied by a 28-year-old school teacher, named Clara (Jenna Coleman). While past seasons have often featured romantic tension between the Doctor and his companions, season eight was notable for showing the wisdom of age and the compassion of youth working together to save the universe. Get Ready for National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week (November 15-23)

National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week starts next weekend, in time for the holiday season. Here are some resources to engage your community this Thanksgiving:
OASIS - Cool Ideas
Here's a cool idea from OASIS: movie spoofs that help promote healthy choices, which is part of their CATCH Healthy Habits program that helped nearly 20,000 children and volunteers learn new ways to have fun while making healthy decisions. Their latest video clip, "Miracle," pays homage to the 1980 U.S. Hockey team's "Miracle on Ice." Watch the Miracle video clip.

Tweet your cool intergenerational ideas to #cooligideas. You can also post them to our Intergenerational Connections Facebook Group or just text us through the Facebook Messenger app (friend me to join our Cool Ideas group discussion). We want to highlight innovative age-optimized programs and practices through our blog, social media and weekly e-newsletter! Share the inspiration.
