Culture United
The Gospel According to André
André Leon Talley has been a fixture in the world of fashion for so long that it's difficult to imagine a time when he
wasn't defining the boundaries of great style. Kate Novack's intimate portrait,
The Gospel According to André, takes viewers on an emotional journey from André's roots growing up in the segregated Jim Crow South -- where his grandmother raised him -- to becoming one of the most influential tastemakers and fashion curators of our times. The film includes grandmother and ancestor quotes. According to a friend, "His grandmother was everything to him."

Culture United highlights films, books, music and TV shows with an intergenerational theme. Do you have any suggestions? Share them with us and we'll share in the weeks and months to come. We welcome responses or reactions. We'll possibly feature them on our blog. See disclaimer.

Quote
"My fellow Americans: Ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do
for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: Ask not what America will do for you,
but what together we can do for the freedom of man."
~John F. Kennedy, whose birthday was yesterday.
