Youth Summit Outcome
Last week, we shared a report, an outcome of the Youth Summit, sponsored by United Nations Association - Hawaii, and presented by an amazing group of young people during our conference closing plenary session. The summit included 70 youth and adult representatives from Red Cross, Boys and Girls Scouts,  private and public school Student Councils, Hawaii Model UN, Pacitic Youth Ministries, Leo Club, Peace Child International and the YMCA. An additional outcome from the intergenerational dialogue is  a letter to Senators Brian Schatz (D-Hawai'i) and Mazie Hirono (D-Hawai'i) and Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) written on behalf of the Youth Summit participants, calling on the elected officials to support of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action to change the framework of Iran's nuclear program. Culture United
Spare Parts
This true life story is about four Hispanic high school students who, through the help of their 50-something teacher, Fredi (George Lopez), team up to start a robotics club. With no experience, $800, used car parts and a dream, this seemingly shabby crew takes on the country's reigning robotics champion, MIT. On their journey, they not only learn how to build a robot, but also built a bond that will last a lifetime.

Do you know of any films, books, music and TV shows with an intergenerational theme?  Share them with us  and we'll share in the weeks and months to come. Disclaimer:  Inclusion in this section is not an endorsement from Generations United. Rather, it is a way of showing the multiplying impact when the arts and pop culture are age-advantaged.

Want to be Considered for a Bookend Blog?
Three years ago, we started a series known as the Bookend Blog. (see:  Betty White's Off Their Rockers .) The series got its name from our contributing writers, youth and older adults, both of whom we refer to as the "bookends" that hold our civil society together. Bookend bloggers comment on current events and offer generational perspectives. Does this sound like you? Read the submission guidelines, then let us know  if you want to be considered for our Bookend Blog.
