Forget You Not, a program of the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation, was founded by 12 teens from Schreiber's High School in Port Washington, NY. The students engage individuals living with Alzheimer's and other related dementia in activities that include reading, dancing, and painting. Learn more.

Plaza West Apartments
DC Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen: "Grandfamilies are a part of the fabric of this city."     
Last week, the community and stakeholders celebrated the grand opening of Plaza West, a new 223-unit development in Washington, D.C. Fifty of those units are reserved for grandfamilies. The Power of Presence
As the mother of Wes Moore, whose memoir about overcoming the obstacles that face a fatherless young black man was a huge bestseller, Joy Moore is constantly asked: How did you do it....have a career and stay healthy when you don't have a partner to pick up the slack?  In The Power of Presence, Moore explores seven pillars of presence that all parents can use to positively influence their children. In the book's forward, Wes, a member of Generations United's National Center on Grandfamilies Council, thanked his mom for her examples that helped make him a better parent to her grandchildren. Think Intergenerational - Funding Opportunities
Inspire! Grants for Small Museums. This special initiative offers grants between $5,000 and $50,000 to help small museums implement projects that address Lifelong Learning, Community Anchors and Catalysts, and Collections Stewardship and Public Access. Deadline: Nov. 1, 2018. Learn more.

Pop Up Rapid Response Grants.  The Pop Culture Collaborative have grants ranging from $5,000 to $30,000 for organizations working to build movements, drive campaigns, produce stories, and leverage media and entertainment mediums to drive positive narrative and social change in popular culture. Funded projects must impact, support, or engage people of color, immigrants, refugees, or Muslims. Deadline: on a rolling basis. Learn more.

Research and Resources
Raising the Children of the Opioid Epidemic (Updated).  The amended report shows that -- overall -- foster care systems are relying more on grandparents and other relatives to care for children when their parents cannot. The report includes recommendations on how to connect grandfamilies to the same supports and services that traditional unrelated foster families receive. Learn more

All In Together: Creating Places Where Young And Old Thrive. This new report from Generations United and The Eisner Foundation  includes the findings of two national surveys, profiles of model programs and recommendations for how we can increase the number of intergenerational shared sites .   Learn more .

Supporting Young Children Experiencing Separation and Trauma. ZERO TO THREE worked with the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and the Alliance for the Advancement of Infant Mental Health on this directory. The resources help families and caregivers working with very young children who have experienced trauma as well as connection to specialized mental health professionals who understand the needs of very young children.
