International Literacy Day

On Monday, many literacy coalitions raised awareness of and concern for literacy problems in communities here and abroad. In honor of the day, we highlight the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as well as AARP Experience Corps, Senior Corps, Jumpstart and OASIS Institute for their intergenerational approaches to promoting literacy. Take time during this month for thoughtful action in any way that intentionally connects generations. Host or join a generational event. Go to the Intergeneration Foundation's website to find ways to celebrate together or invent your own. Have fun!
