 Save the Date: 2014 Families in Society
Join Generations United and the Alliance for Children and Families at the National Press Club on May 13 from 9:30am to 10:45am (EDT), where we'll mark the 20th anniversary of the International Year of the Family by releasing new poll results and a signature report.

 Mr. Rogers Understood the Importance of Intergenerational Play As a kid, Fred Rogers' heroes were caped crusaders who could lift buildings with one arm. That changed when he became an adult. He explained: "...now I can honestly say that anyone who does anything to help a child is a hero to me." In their Huffington Post blog, Donna Butts and Dr. Sally Newman not only honored the late TV host, but also showed how intergenerational programs make everyone a hero. Read more |
Passage of the Kinship Care Law
Ana Beltran, our Special Advisor, has been providing ongoing technical assistance to advocates in Kentucky who are pursuing this legislation. Generations United has a policy brief on these types of state laws, which allow relatives without guardianship or legal custody of the children in their care to access health care and/or education on behalf of the children. Kentucky will join at least eleven other states who have similar laws that allow children to access both health care and education. Learn more
