Save the Date for "All In Together: Creating Places Where Young and Old Thrive"
Join  Generations United and The Eisner Foundation on Tues., June 5, at the National Press Club as we release a new report that  includes a national survey and public opinion poll on intergenerational shared site programs that connect children, youth and older adults.  The program will be emceed by veteran NPR correspondent Ina Jaffe . Senate HELP Committee Unanimously Passes Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Act

Today the Senate HELP Committee  unanimously passed the Supporting Grandparents Raising Grandchildren  Act which would create a federal task force on grandfamilies and a one-stop-shop for federal resources to help the families. The committee also adopted an amendment to the bill offered by Sen. Murkowski to open the door for the Department of Education and USDA to be included on the task force.  The bill will next need to be considered by the Senate floor and by the House.  Watch the hearing.   Learn more about the bill, and see the press release which includes a quote from Donna Butts.  Thanks to all who raised your voices in support of this legislation.
Help Identify Intergenerational Programs Across the Country - Take the Survey Now
Generations United and The Ohio State University, with support from The Eisner Foundation, are looking for intergenerational programs across the country. Please take their survey at  www.go.osu.edu/IGsurvey This survey will provide critical and timely insight on programs and services for people of all ages. Results will be included in a report to be released at an event in Washington, DC on June 5, 2018. Contact Sheri Steinig for more information.

Intergenerational Sewing Project
This intergenerational sewing club has members of the Barnstable Senior Center and schoolgirls in a 4-H sewing program hemming embroidered pieces of flannel called "comfort cloths," which are given to the mothers of opioid-dependent newborns at Cape Cod Hospital. Learn more.

Max and the Tag-Along Moon by Floyd Cooper
Max loves his grandpa. When they must say good-bye after a visit, Grandpa reminds Max that the moon above them at Grandpa's house is the same moon that will follow him all the way home. And on that swervy-curvy car ride back home Max smiles as the moon tags along, thinking of Grandpa. But when the sky darkens and the moon disappears behind clouds, Max worries that it did not follow him home after all. Yet when the clouds part and light streams through his window, he realizes that Grandpa was right-the moon was with him all along. Learn more.

Our internships -- beginning in late spring/early summer in Washington, DC -- provide opportunities to build research skills, become involved with advocacy training and engage in an active intergenerational network.  Stipends available. Deadline to apply is March 16, 2018.  Learn more
Think Intergenerational - Funding Opportunities
The Silver Foundation's Transitional Youth Development Grant Program. The Silver Family Foundation supports nonprofit organizations in Oregon and Washington that help youth reach their full potential through mentorship, high school completion, college and post-secondary preparation and experiential education. Programs must offer offer in-depth, long-term investments and opportunities for motivated, low-income youth. Deadline: March 31, 2018. Learn more.  

Art Works Grant. The National Endowment for the Arts support artistically excellent projects that celebrate our creativity and cultural heritage, invite mutual respect for differing beliefs and values, and enrich humanity. Matching grants generally range from $10,000 to $100,000. Second Art Works Deadline: July 12, 2018.  Learn more.

2018 AARP Purpose Prize Award.   Nominate a colleague, a friend, even yourself for the 2018 AARP Purpose Prize, which will present $50,000 to five extraordinary individuals -- ages 50 and older -- who are using their life experience to make a better future for all ages.  In addition to the cash prizes, one of the five winners will be awarded the Andrus Award for Intergenerational Excellence, named for AARP's founder. Turning Silver Into Gold: The Business of Aging. This new report from the  Milken Institute urges business leaders to capitalize on the wealth and wisdom of older adults. The report -- which includes the essay series, The Business of Aging -- identifies opportunities, innovations, human capital strategies and forward-looking policies and practices to realize the upside of aging. Intergenerational Programming in Senior Housing: From Promise to Practice.  This report describes findings from a year-long study on the nature and extent of intergenerational programming in senior housing that was conducted by Generations United and LeadingAge, with support from the Retirement Research Foundation.  Learn more.
