Generations United is a CoNGO Member!
This membership in the Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations opens the way for Generations United to formally request the establishment of an NGO committee on Intergenerational Solidarity. For approval, the request requires an additional 19 requests from NGOs that are accredited in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and are also members of CoNGO. UN Representatives for Generations United - Dr.
Susanne Bleiberg-Seperson
and
Kevin Brabazon
- are working with the chairperson and members of the Intergenerational Subcommittee of the NGO Committee on Ageing to organize the other requests. The establishment of a separate, independent committee addressing intergenerational issues is considered important to ensure that this perspective contributes to social development, human rights and other issues under consideration at the UN.

Culture United
The Lotterys Plus One
Nine-year-old Sumac Lottery is part of a large family that includes four parents, children both adopted and biological, and a collection of wild pets. They live together in a sprawling house called Camelottery. The family grows when news breaks that Sumac's grandfather, Grumps, is living with dementia and will be moving in with them. Despite the tension between Grumps (who disapproves of how the Lotterys live) and the family, Sumac tries her best to help Grumps feel like he belongs.
Culture United highlights films, books, music and TV shows with an intergenerational theme. Do you have any suggestions? Share them with us and we'll share in the weeks and months to come. We welcome responses or reactions. We'll possibly feature them on our blog. See disclaimer.

Quote
"...Because we owe so much to the past, we have the
obligation to try to pass on a world to the next generation
which is a little better than the one we inherited so that
those who come after, standing on our shoulders. can see a
little further and do a little better in turn." ~
Robert Ball, former Social Security Commissioner and founder of NASI. Yesterday was his birthday. He would've turned 103!
