Kennebec Valley Community College is now offering a "Geothermal Accredited Installer Workshop" - hybrid course, beginning Sept. 12, 2014.  This course is designed for individuals who wish to gain a complete working knowledge of ground source heat pump systems, and who may be interested in installing, servicing, and designing geothermal heating and cooling systems. Successful completion of this course will help prepare students for the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) Accredited Installer exam, and the State of Maine closed loop installer journeyman license examination

This course delivers technical knowledge, and practical training in the design, installation, and service of geothermal heating and cooling systems. The online portion of this course includes reading assignments with follow up activities focused on fundamental geothermal concepts. This knowledge base will be refined and reinforced with the subsequent onsite instruction hosted at the KVCC Renewable & Energy Technology Center. Onsite instruction will include lectures, discussions, hands-on  lab activities, and exam preparation.

Students who successfully complete the course may opt to take the IGSHPA Accredited Installer exam (GT1 015) which is  administered by KVCC on the last day of the course.  Students must register to take this exam  separately.  Students who pass this exam will earn the credential, NATE Certified / IGSHPA Accredited Installer of Ground Source Heat Pump Systems, and will be eligible to register as an IGSHPA Accredited Installer through Efficiency Maine's Residential Registered Vendor list.

You may register for this course by simply clicking on the "REGISTER TODAY!" button or you may call (207)453-5818 to register over the phone.  We look forward to assisting you in achieving your Renewable & Energy Technology Goals!
