As Executive Director, I've noticed something curious. People new to the Temple seem to be quicker to become supporting members as compared to some regular attendees who have enjoyed the benefits of the Temple of Light for some time who say, "I just don't have the money," "When I start making some, I'll definitely join," "I'm unemployed, but will join when I get a job,"  or, "Classes should be free." Money is a delicate subject for us all. If you are experiencing feelings of  "lack," it's even more so. As spiritually-minded people, a powerful thing we can do is be aware this is happening and change our attitude into one of abundance. One way to ignite this is to support something which contributes to your well being. 

I know it isn't easy. I had a "lack mentality" not too long ago which was destroying me. 

After losing my retirement savings in the stock market and, shortly thereafter, losing my job, I was broke. I felt alone. At the darkest point, I gave into my friends' suggestion to file bankruptcy and searched for an attorney who I planned on calling the next day. I HATED this solution; that night I prayed for guidance.

The Universe's voice boomed, "We are here. Let go." I felt a release of my toxic thoughts and negative energy that had surrounded me for years. Yes, I continue to have financial ups and downs (and even a few times, down to my last penny). This is when I have to embrace my faith and know I am not alone. I am being given all I need in the form of people I meet and opportunities which come to me out of "nowhere." 

Even though it's a stretch for me financially, I'm a Supporting Member. I believe our commUNITY will grow. Yesterday, when Danielle was working through her feelings around our continued success, Susan B. Anthony added her support and said, "Failure is impossible!"  

Danielle, ever the C.P.A. did a quick calculation of the total monetary benefits offered within the UCC programs and was surprised to discover they amounted to over $850 per month. There is some overlap so the most anyone could utilize in a month was $650. Those who commit to a $100 monthly membership will receive $650 worth of classes, workshops , lectures, and a vendor table at our Fair FREE. (I believe this is a no brainer). 

The Temple of Light, even after seven years, is still in the building process.  To complete the building phase, we need builders to show up. Are you a builder?

Classified Ad
Starting September 1, I'll be collecting clothes for the homeless at the Temple of Light in Laguna Beach. Currently a man brings a shower trailer where they can shower. I want to provide new or (clean) used shirts, blouses, jeans, socks, underwear, shoes, T-shirts, sweat suits, jackets, etc. You can also donate toiletries, especially the ones you get when you travel. 

Rev. Danielle will be happy to give you a tax deduction form for your income taxes.
