Food For The Poor 5K

Thank you for your entry to the Food For The Poor 5K and helping to build 100 homes for the less fortunate. We look forward to treating you to a truly special race experience on SATURDAY MORNING, MAY 12 starting with the warm-up at 5:30am and the race start at 6:00am.

Follow these tips for a smooth-running race day experience:

Get Your Race Bibs! Go to Emancipation Park (inside the Dome) in New Kingston today (Thursday, May 10) or tomorrow (Friday, May 11) from 11:00am to 5:00pm. All packets must be collected before race day. There is ABSOLUTELY NO BIB PICK-UP ON RACE DAY!

Get Smart! Being on time for the 6:00am race start guarantees the best overall experience for you. More importantly, with MYLAPS race timing, a late start will cost you a personal chip time. Find out more by reading our Chip Timing Guidelines. For road races, an on-time arrival is 1 hour before the race start, which allows sufficient time to park, warm-up and line-up in the start chute.

Get Yourself Ready! Plan ahead to avoid the pre-race traffic delays, allowing time to park and walk to Emancipation Park before 5:45am when roads in and around New Kingston will be closed to vehicular traffic. Parking is available at the KSAC lots on St. Lucia Avenue, Trinidad Terrace and Dominica Drive.

Get Timed! Do not bend or fold your race bib as this may damage the chip, which will affect your race time. You must cross the mats at the start and finish in order to get an accurate race time. The number one complaint, "I didn't get a chip time" is solved by not covering your bib when starting and stopping your watch and not jamming up close to others while crossing the timing mats. Our Chip Timing Guidelines have all the information you need.

Get Crazy! No, Don't Get Crazy! Despite having a race-ready medical team in place, we sincerely wish to keep them idle. As always, please run within yourself and listen to your body. Should you feel any discomfort during the race, go to the nearest aid station or to the nearest course marshall and ask for assistance. In case of emergency, PLEASE CALL 351-6956 for immediate assistance. This number is also printed on your race bib.

Get Jiggy With It! Your favourite post-race cool downs awaits you at the finish line. Be prepared to relax a bit and enjoy the live entertainment, race awards, refreshments and samplings.

See you on Saturday morning!
