We are excited to announce our Celebrity Emcee for this event: Mrs. Vanessa Holmes Broussard, Morning Anchor for 12 News Now!
Vanessa was born and raised right here in Southeast Texas, attending grade school at St. Catherine in Port Arthur and graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 2000.
She went on to study Broadcast Journalism in the Dan Rather Communications Building at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX.
After graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Radio/Television Broadcast Journalism, Vanessa moved back home to Southeast Texas to begin work in TV News.
She joined the 12News team in November of 2008.
She won multiple awards for newscasts as an Executive Producer including: Best Newscast in Southeast Texas 2011 and 2012 and a 2012 Lone Star EMMA.
Vanessa's Mom and 5 siblings all live in Southeast Texas. This is home!
We are excited by the response from the Maritime Community and the Community at Large, this is truly turning out to be a wonderful event, with support from the Maritime community and the community at large.
With this event, we will be raising funds not only for the Seafarers' Center and Camp SeaPort, but we will be raising funds for Scholarships to send area youth into the Maritime Work Force. These are great Living Wage jobs that are RIGHT HERE! And we have our minds set on pointing our youth to those jobs!
So we are reaching out, especially to the Maritime Industry to get onboard, and support this event with significant sponsorships. Those of you in the industry, know how much we need workers for the industry!
This event honors the past and looks to the bright future of the Maritime Industry.
The theme for the evening will be "Treasures of the Sea", celebrating the treasures these two charities bring to our region, and the bounty that the sea brings to us. The event raises awareness of the region's importance to state, national and global commerce.
This will be a night to honor where we have been and look to the future, learn about the state of the Sabine-Neches Waterway, and the opportunities that our Maritime Industry brings to the area. Most importantly, it is a time to celebrate the opportunities it has in store for our future workforce.
