Dear

Welcome to our October e-newsletter.

I don't know about you, but bowling is fun and an awesome way to strike up conversations while helping the Chamber so we hope to see you at the FUNd-a-Palooza event!  We don't mind if you get spares or gutter balls, the event is about community and business.  Get a team together and challenge another company similar to yours to organize their team for a friendly game of bowling on Sunday, November 6th! The registration form is in this newsletter as well as on our website.

Read on to learn about business and community events happening over the next couple of months.

Waterford/Wind Lake Area CROP Hunger Walk
October 2, 2016

Area churches will gather together on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church and at 1 PM the Waterford/Wind Lake CROP Hunger Walk of 1, 3, or 5 miles will be held to show our love and active concern for neighbors in need near and far. The participants will be raising awareness and funds to change the world in real and measurable ways. CROP Hunger Walks play a role in the U.S., helping communities ravaged by floods and tornadoes to recover. Church World Services receives the CROP Hunger Walk funds to help families and communities to rebuild homes, food supplies and livelihoods. CWS has worked for seven decades with one goal: building a world where there is enough for all. We affirm the power of individuals and communities to take ownership of their future. We meet them right where they are, helping them create solutions they can maintain - and build on. That means a refugee family who is able to start a new life. Or someone rebuilding after disaster finds safety with dignity. It's important to note that 25 percent of what we raise will help the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry, Norway Helping Hands Food Pantry, and the Caldwell Food Pantry in their important work here in the Waterford/Wind Lake area. You can register online today and begin gathering sponsors at www.crophungerwalk.org. For additional information or to volunteer, please contact Geri Vander Leest at 262.895.6365. Thank you.

Educators Credit Union Needs Volunteers

Educators Credit Union and a group of exceptional volunteers are working together to organize a unique hands-on learning opportunity for high school students in partnership with Racine Unified School District. Approximately 800 students will have the opportunity to test their money skills in a safe and educational environment by participating in Reality Check. In order to make this event successful, we need your help!

What is Reality Check?
Reality Check is an interactive, hands-on financial literacy event, which is:
* Designed to demonstrate the importance of sound money management skills.
* A partnership between schools and the business community because it provides an opportunity for students to connect with community business representatives in an authentic situation.
* An event that gives students a chance to test their budgeting skills using actual prices for products and services in a safe environment.
* An event that provides insight into career selection and how that career selection will play a part in their financial future.
* A culminating, hands-on experience for students to test their ability as a consumer in our economy.

When is Reality Check?
* Reality Check will be held on October 26th, 2016 at Roma Lodge in Racine, WI.
* Volunteers are expected to arrive at 7:00am with the event ending at 2:30 pm.
* A light Breakfast and a full lunch are provided.
* Volunteers will work at tables assisting students in making financially responsible decisions, writing checks, and keeping an accurate check book register.
