A crafty thank you

You may remember reading about our friends who bring art therapy to residents of the DC VA Medical Center on our blog earlier this year. Kasse (the program volunteer who first connected the art therapy program with Forklift's giving program) recently delivered this charming, ceramic thank you note to us in appreciation of the materials donated through our Community Building Blocks grant.
One of the cornerstones of our mission is to give materials
directly back to the community - either to neighbors in need or to nonprofits like Art Therapy for DC VA Medical Center Residents. We are proud to say that in May 2018, we donated $5,654 worth of materials through our Home Essentials program and $3,436 through our Community Building Blocks program.
Help us Cool the Neighborhood
As temperatures rise each spring, we get a lot of requests for air conditioners from neighbors in need, including seniors and people with asthma or heart problems. Through our Home Essentials program, we try to provide free A/C units to everyone - but we don't have enough to meet demand, and our wait list is growing. We need your help!

Donate- If you have a working A/C unit to contribute, you can
drop it off or request a free pick up on our website.
Fund the cause- Help us purchase a new unit to donate directly to a Home Essentials client. A donation of $129 will cover the cost of one new unit for a grateful recipient.
Spread the word- Please share our giving campaign with your family, friends, and neighbors.
Upcycle Alert!
Get crafty with your Forklift finds
Windows, window sashes, and storm windows are 40% off through the end of June, so this is a great time to make a few renovations, or beat the heat by staying inside and working on an upcycling project!

Here are a few ideas for repurposing salvaged windows into a wedding seating chart or drink menu, a vertical succulent garden, or hanging porch dividers.
Looking to add a little bit of character to your garden?
We still have a large stock of surplus sinks that would make great planters, potting bench basins, or sink staircases!
Share your projects with us on social media! Use the hashtag #founditatforklift to show off your #creativereuse.
Can't make it into the warehouse?
Our online stores are always open!
Did you know that we also sell items online?
All proceeds help us continue to lift up local communities through reuse. Find vintage decor, bathroom fixtures, machinery, commercial items, and more in our eBay store; vintage hardware and decor in our Etsy store; and high-end furniture in our Chairish store.
