Getting Back Into The Swing Of Things
|
At long last I'm back to work, even though I'm only in the office for short days in the beginning. I'm so happy to be here and would like to give a big "thank you" to the staff, the Board of Directors, Melanie Robbins and Kim Ortamond for all of their hard work in keeping everything running smoothly in my absence.

Christine was very diligent in going through every one of the over 200 members to insure that as much information is on display in the directory. If you are a member, please take the time to look up your listing and make sure we have all of the information correct. Is there more that you would like listed? Is all of the information correct? Please let us know!
This past weekend Sky's the Limit Observatory and Nature Center hosted the Ball Gown Extravaganza event at their Thrift Shop, located at 73662 Homestead Drive. What an excellent opportunity they provided for women looking to purchase an affordable gown for the many upcoming Marine Corps Birthday Balls that are held this time of year. Jerri Hagman reported that it was a huge success for those who participated.
See You Next Week,

Attention All Business Owners
!
The Top 10 Benefits of Social Media Marketing Part 1
1. Increased Brand Recognition. Every opportunity you have to syndicate your content and increase your visibility is valuable. Your social media networks are just new channels for your brand's voice and content. This is important because it simultaneously makes you easier and more accessible for new customers, and makes you more familiar and recognizable for existing customers. For example, a frequent Twitter user could hear about your company for the first time only after stumbling upon it in a newsfeed. Or, an otherwise apathetic customer might become better acquainted with your brand after seeing your presence on multiple networks.
2. Improved brand loyalty. According to a report published by Texas Tech University, brands who engage on social media channels enjoy higher loyalty from their customers. The report concludes "Companies should take advantage of the tools social media gives them when it comes to connecting with their audience. A strategic and open social media plan could prove influential in morphing consumers into being brand loyal." Another study published by Convince&Convert found that 53% of Americans who follow brands in social are more loyal to those brands.
3. More Opportunities to Convert. Every post you make on a social media platform is an opportunity for customers to convert. When you build a following, you'll simultaneously have access to new customers, recent customers, and old customers, and you'll be able to interact with all of them. Every blog post, image, video, or comment you share is a chance for someone to react, and every reaction could lead to a site visit, and eventually a conversion. Not every interaction with your brand results in a conversion, but every positive interaction increases the likelihood of an eventual conversion. Even if your click-through rates are low, the sheer number of opportunities you have on social media is significant. And as I pointed out in my article, "
The Four Elements of Any Action, And How To Use Them In Your Online Marketing Initiative," "opportunity" is the first element of any action.
Scott Clinkscales will soon be hosting a number of social media seminars in the coming months and will be also be available by appointment for assistance.

After history professor John Oldman unexpectedly resigns from the University, his startled colleagues impulsively invite themselves to his home, pressing him for an explanation. But they're shocked to hear his reason for premature retirement: John claims he must move on because he is immortal, and cannot stay in one place for more than ten years without his secret being discovered. Tempers rise and emotions flow as John's fellow professors attempt to poke holes in his story, but it soon becomes clear that his tale is as impossible to disprove as it is to verify. What starts out as a friendly gathering soon builds to an unexpected and shattering climax. Acclaimed science fiction writer Jerome Bixby, writer of the original 'Star Trek' and 'The Twilight Zone', originally conceived this story back in the early 1960's. It would come to be his last great work.
"The Man from Earth" will run Friday and Saturday nights at 7:00 p.m. through September 19th with a Sunday Matinee at 2:30 p.m. September 13th.
Theatre 29 is located at 73627 Sullivan Road in the city of Twentynine Palms. Tickets can be reserved by calling the Theatre 29 Box office at 760-361-4151 or online at
