We've changed our name to Troop Edition, (formerly E-edition) and expanded distribution to include our Girl Scout Troop Leaders. This weekly newsletter will continue to inform you of the many exciting programs and events offered throughout the Council. We hope you enjoy receiving Troop Edition. Past issues are available on our Council's website. Troop Edition includes many opportunities offered by outside vendors. The Council has not inspected these programs or vendors, and there are no Council representatives at these events.
DC Step Show Team Registration Is Now Open!
Who: All Girl Scouts When: Saturday, February 22, 2014, 11am - 3pm Where: Trinity Washington University, Washington, DC
If your troop is interested in showing off its stepping skills, make sure to sign up to perform in the Council's DC Step Showcase. All of the members of your team must be registered members of GSCNC, and routines should be appropriate for a family event. This community event is open to current Girl Scouts and friends and family.

Volunteer at the Environmental Leadership Institute for Council Hours
Who: Girl Scout Seniors and Girl Scout Ambassadors

What: In partnership with Booz Allen Hamilton and the US Forest Service, GSCNC is hosting the fourth annual Environmental Leadership Institute! Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors are needed to help with serving lunch, general logistics, check-in, etc. Lunch will be provided to volunteers.

Sample 18th century period teas and chocolates at a festive holiday tea! Costumed interpreters lead participants in an informative and engaging presentation on the history of tea and chocolate. Cool Spaces for Creative Girls at the Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden

What: The ARTLAB+ program is a free afterschool program where teens can socialize with friends; explore digital media and technical tools; and take workshops to develop their interests and skills. Mentors encourage teens to explore their own interests, create their own learning trajectories, and foster their own values. ARTLAB+ strives to be a radically inclusive space, where teens can learn from each other's differences in a welcoming and safe environment. Girl Scout destinations are travel experiences that range from two days to three weeks for Cadettes and older, can whisk you to the far corners of the world where you will meet remarkable girls, develop leadership skills, gain confidence, and enjoy valuable learning opportunities to take action.

Boo Law Girl Scout Scholarship at Montgomery College
Who: Girl Scouts/Former Girl Scouts attending Montgomery College
When: Deadline to apply for Spring Semester is January 14, 2014

What: Dedicated Girl Scout volunteer, Boo Law, established the Boo Law Girl Scout Scholarship at Montgomery College.
The scholarship is available to a Girl Scout or former Girl Scout who is a US citizen, has been an active Girl Scout for at least 5 years, demonstrates financial need, in academic good standing, and currently lives in Montgomery County or was a resident of the county during the time she was a Girl Scout.
