Girl Scouts Forever Green Earth Hour

On March 31, 2012 at 8:30 p.m., Earth Hour will celebrate a worldwide commitment to ongoing change for the betterment of the one thing that unites us all - the planet. Earth Hour encourages individuals and families to turn off their lights for one hour to take a stand against climate change. This year Girl Scouts Forever Green challenges all Girl Scouts to participate in Earth Hour, showing that they too believe in a greener world and a better tomorrow. As with the plastic waste challenge, Girl Scouts will be able to let us know if they participated in Earth Hour through an online survey.  Let's work together as a council to show the rest of the world that GSCNC cares about green issues.

Girl Scouts Forever Green is sponsored by Boeing.

Enter the Environmental Leadership Contest

and you could win a VIP experience at the

Girl Scouts Rock the Mall event in June 2012

Have you ever heard the phrase "Think globally, act locally?" When learning about environmental issues like erosion, climate change, and endangered wildlife, you might ask yourself: the problem is so big, what can I do to help? Well, the answer is: you can do a lot. There are so many small things that you can do in your local community that add up in a big way globally, from turning off the lights when you leave the room to using rechargeable batteries and reusable cups. With over 300 million people in the United States alone, imagine how big of an impact there would be if everyone committed to doing just one small thing to help the environment.
