STEM Leadership Institute

Who: Girl Scout Cadettes

When: April 20, 2013, 8:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Where: University of Maryland
Computer Science Building
College Park, MD

Join GSCNC for its very first STEM Leadership Institute.  Exclusively for Girl Scout Cadettes, this program will give attendees the opportunity to explore the worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  From hands-on activities, to career exploration, to a tour of the University of Maryland campus, this program will give girls the tools they need to pursue a STEM career.  Girl Scouts will also participate in a workshop that will prepare them to earn their Leader In Action (LIA) award, an award earned by Girl Scout Cadettes who demonstrate leadership by guiding a Brownie Girl Scout Troop through a Journey.


Cost
: $20 per person

Cost includes lunch, dinner, and a patch!


Troop Leaders are welcome to register for this event, and may go to the program sessions with their troop.

American Girl Doll St. Patty's Day
Accessories Crafting Workshop

  

Who: Girl Scout Brownies and Junior

  

When: March 9, 2013, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00p.m.

  

Where: Pleasant Valley Methodist Church
Chantilly, VA   

 

Grab your 18'' doll and come for a fun day of all things green and mini!  Girls will spend the day crafting mini pretend foods, accessories and more for their doll!  Some crafts include their own doll size treat table complete with a mini pot of gold, mini treats and more!  Each doll will receive their own mini Leprechaun top hat!  Please bring a bag lunch.  Girls may register individually without the whole troop etc.  

Fees: $38

 Women's History Month Family Festival at National Museum of American History

  

Women's History  

 

Who: Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors

     

When: March 2, 2013, 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

     

Where: National Museum of American History
1400 Constitution Ave NW 
Washington, DC 20560

     

Be inspired by the display commemorating the 100th anniversary of the 1913 woman suffrage parade in Washington, DC.  Explore suffrage history with the curator, see more objects out of storage, enjoy historical-interpreter and music performances, take a self-guide, create hands-on crafts, and share your thoughts with museum visitors.

Fees: FREE!

Explore New York City with  

Reston Limousine

 

Who: Girl Scout Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors

When: Saturday, April 20, 2013

Departs Vienna Metro Station at 7 a.m., arriving at Grand Central Train Station at 12 p.m. Departs American Girl Place at 6:30 p.m., arriving at Vienna Metro at 11 p.m.

 

Spend a day in the Big Apple exploring New York City landmarks and attractions! Trip begins with a self-guided audio tour at Grand Central Train Station, which is celebrating its 100th Anniversary. Next is a visit to Times Square, where troops can explore a variety of attractions, from museums to huge toy and candy stores. The day ends with shopping and dinner at American Girl Place New York! Girl Scouts will receive a New York fun patch. 

 

Fees: $95 per person includes round-trip transportation, Grand Central Train Station audio tour, and dinner at American Girl Place New York.

Dine-Around Series 

 

Are you working toward your Gold Award? Have you already earned your Gold Award? If so, we'd love to have you join us for one of our 

Dine-Arounds this season. Check out how fellow Girl Scouts have earned their Gold Award here! 

  

What's a Dine-Around? Dine-Arounds are informal dinners, brunches, teas or other events that are hosted by Women's Advisory Board members at their homes or businesses.  They are a unique chance to gain insight from successful women and will prove to be an amazing networking session. Please note there is no cost to attend a Dine-Around.

Dinner with college aged women who have earned the Gold Award; hosted by Pat McGuire (President, Trinity University). This Dine-Around event allows girls to bring one adult as a guest.

 

Beach Party Dine-Around

When: Thursday, April 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Where: Bethesda, MD

Hosted by Diane Tipton (President, Girl Scout Council Nation's Capital) and Rose Cohen (Senior Banker, JPMorgan Private Bank).

 

Steel Magnolias Tea Dine-Around

When: Sunday, May 5, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Where: Mitchellville, MD

Hosted by Artis Hampshire-Cowan (Senior Vice President and Secretary, Howard University) and Shireen Dodson (Ombudsman, U.S. State Department).
