Plastic Waste Challenge

Who: Girl Scouts of All Ages

When: The Month of February

In 2012, 15,038 plastic items (bottles and bags) were saved from going to the land fill during our Plastic Waste Challenge with over 160 Girl Scouts participating.

This February, Girl Scouts will work to reduce plastic waste by using reusable grocery bags and water bottles. As a council, we are challenging every girl in every troop in the entire council to make the switch to reusable water bottles and grocery bags and track how many times from February 1st though February 28th they have used their bottle or bag.  At the end of the month Girl Scouts will be able to submit their totals through an online survey where we will be able to track how many plastic bags and bottles didn't end up in the garbage!

We have created a Plastic Waste Challenge Tracker to help Girl Scouts keep track of how many times they use their bag/bottle.  Please use this throughout the month of February and then report your totals at the link below!

Plastic Waste Challenge Report

**This survey will be open for reporting, but we encourage Girl Scouts to wait until until March 1, 2013 to enter their totals so they include the entire month of February**
