Sixty Austin Girl Scouts took a trip to the local 3M Innovation Center last month to take part in fun STEM activities in conjunction with the GSCTX Edge initiative. The girls met with 3M engineers who served as mentors throughout the day. Upon splitting up into groups, the Girl Scouts participated in building and designing puff cars that could travel at least six feet and carry a family of Gummi Bears. They also learned a lesson in mass production along the way as they had to build as many cars as possible on a budget within ten minutes. After the cars were built, the girls developed a marketing strategy to promote their work. In addition to the car activity, all participants were given a tour of the Innovation Center and they also took home lots of free souvenirs from their visit! Sounds like a great day ladies!
