GIRL SCOUT SPOTLIGHT: National Convention FunDonate Now

Nearly 50 Central Texas Girl Scout staff, delegates and supporters attended the Girl Scouts National Council Session 52nd Convention in Houston, TX from Nov. 10-13. The three-day convention offered several activities including the organization's centennial celebration on Saturday, hundreds of seminars and the organization's business meeting where GSUSA welcomed its new Chief Executive Officer, Anna Maria Chavez. Program Center Holiday Closures

All program centers will close to the public December 18 and will reopen January 3. Online shop orders processed during this time will be filled after the holiday. GSCTX hopes everyone has a safe and happy holiday break!

World Thinking Day: February 22

According to the Girl Scouts website, World Thinking Day invites girls to participate in activities and projects with global themes to honor their sister Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in other countries. If you are planning a Thinking Day activity,let us know! Share your photos and stories on  Facebook. If you are in need of a Thinking Day patch and want to place a large quantity order, you can do so at your local shop, the online shop or by emailing Mary Ann. 

 

Harp Ensemble 

This girl-lead special interest group is looking to recruit girls in grades 6-12 who share a love of music. Girls meet regularly to pick music, arrange it to suit their talents and strengths and practice in a fun environment. Join now!

Holiday Market

Visit your local shop to find great gifts for the Girl Scout in your life and remember your Girl Scout Dough, Camp Bucks and Frequent Cards expire on December 17! Hurry into your local shop before time runs out.

 

Cookie Merchandise 

The cookie sale is right around the corner! Look for fun and useful merchandise to help you have the best cookie sale ever. Your local and online shop will have everything from tablecloths to yard signs to fashionable Girl Scout clothing perfect during cookie season. Look for these items in January!

VOLUNTEER SERVICES

Forming Volunteer Committees

We need your voice and expertise. Volunteers from the entire council are encouraged to join the following committees - Gold Award Committee will meet on a bi-monthly basis in person or via phone conference to approve awards and update girl database. Travel Committee will meet on a monthly basis to support girls in planning trips, assist with programming and coordinate volunteers. Adult Recognitions Committee will meet on a monthly basis to manage adult recognitions process including approving awards, updating database and coordinating recognition events. If any of the above committees interest you, please contact Heather Givens with the name of which committee in the subject line. 

PRODUCT SALES

Fall Product Program

This year, GSCTX participated in 'Troop 2 Troop' for the first time ever. The program gave customers the option to purchase nuts for military personnel. Thank you for your hard work. We were able to donate more than 7,000 cans of nuts. Donate Now

Girl Scout Dough

Dough earned during the 2010 Fall Product Sale or 2011 Cookie Sale will expire December 17. Learn how to spend your dough before it expires! Dough earned during this October's Fall Product Program will be sent to Troop Leaders in January 2012 and will expire in December of 2012.

FOGS Campaign 

Girl Scouts will celebrate our 100th Anniversary next year. In honor of theDonate Now celebration, GSCTX has set our sights to raising $100,000 through the FOGS Campaign. Last year, FOGS raised nearly $78,000 and more than $17,000 has been raised for this year! Make your gift today and support the Girl Scout Leadership Experience for your daughter and the girls in your community.

 

Matching Gift Donation

AT&T and Apple have announced a special matching initiative for their employees in honor of our celebration. Apple will match dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000 annually. Check with your employer for details and consider making a gift today.
