GIRL SCOUT SPOTLIGHT: Famous

Girl Scouts! 

As a girl, Jennifer Healy participated in Girl Scouts by earning badges and attending troop meetings and at 26, she found herself working with the organization as a mentor. Through Target and their partnership with United Way, Target employee Jennifer was encouraged to find volunteer work that she was passionate about and that's how she found a Girl Scout named Jasmine.Read more on our blog.
COUNCIL NEWS

Be an Early Bird! 

Register by June 15th and receive a 15 percent off coupon for a one-time purchase at the Girl Scout shop! Coupon is for troop use only and not available to individual registrants. The person who turns in all registration forms before or on June 15th will be given the coupon. Registrants can now also use their Girl Scout Dough to pay the $12 membership fee.

  

Program Center Closures

All program centers will close to the public Friday, July 1st and reopen Tuesday, July 19th due to staff training, shop inventories and preparation for Service Team Conference. There's still time to join Girl Scouts at camp this summer! Girls have the chance to participate in a variety of fun activities and make lots of new friends too. For availability and additional programs, visit our event calendar and Camp Guide online. 

 

Call for Photo Submissions!

Send us your best recent photos of your Girl Scout enjoying the activities Girl Scouting provides to 20,000 Central Texas girls. Photos should be engaging, high quality and showcase girls having a fun time! Your submissions could be featured in a number of publications that will be viewed by the council, volunteers, fellow Girl Scouts and the public. Submit your high resolution photographs or links to photos@gsctx.org.

The Girl Scout shop you love is now available 24/7 and you don't have to pay shipping fees! GSCTX offers you the option to order online and choose our convenient pick up service! Orders can be picked up at our Austin shop. For more information, visit our Shop page. 

 

Camp Packs Available for Campers 

Perfect for campers of all ages, the packs include all the essentials for a perfect summer outdoors! Order forms can be mailed, faxed, emailed or turned into the Austin area shop.

Sow What? Day Camp: July 18, Travis County

Join your fellow foodies, aspiring gardeners and Girl Scout friends for a fun-filled weekend of exploring the roots of what we eat and getting the dirt on hunger and agricultural issues around the world. Digging into the Sow What? Journey, we will get a taste of local and global food networks including visits to urban farms, grocery stores and farmer markets.

 

Breathe Day Camp: July 20-22, Tom Green County

Give your science smarts a stretch as you become a leader who cares for Earth! Learn several additional techniques to keep your air and Earth clean while also learning relaxation tips to make your world stress-free.

 

Overnighter at Dell Diamond: July 21, Williamson County

Enjoy an evening at Dell Diamond watching the Round Rock Express! The real fun begins once the game ends and the Girl Scouts take over the ballpark to swim, watch a movie and play in the fun zone.

 

CORE Adventure Week: July 31, Bastrop County

Experience the outdoors with CORE (Conservation in Outdoor Recreation & Education)! Explore nature by rock climbing, canoeing and participating in low and high ropes! You can even complete many of the requirements for the Paddle, Pole and Roll, Space Exploration and High Adventure IPs.

 

It's Your Story - Tell It! Twilight Camp: August 2-5, Tom Green County

Explore the newest Journey by going behind the scenes of how stories are made and discover your own story-telling skills!

Register now for the 2011 Service Team Conference! Join fellow volunteers at Burnet Middle School this year to learn more about the NEW Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting, find inspiration to use Journeys for events and activities, take home recruitment ideas and build team spirit with your Service Team.
