Note from CEO Lynelle McKay

To our dedicated Girl Scout family,
What a wonderful first week! I have enjoyed meeting with each and everyone of you that joined us at our meet and greet events around the council. I appreciate your enthusiasm and commitment to Girl Scouts and our number one priority continues to be serving our girls and providing them with the best experience possible. Next week, we will have another meet and greet event in Austin on Tuesday, June 18 and will then head to Brownwood on Wednesday, June 19 and San Angelo on June 20. All events are from 4-6p.m. and will take place at the local area service center.
I hope to see you there and if you are unable to make it to a meet and greet event, feel free to contact us! I would love to hear from you.
Yours in Girl Scouting,
Lynelle McKay
Troop 2038 and 2093 held a book drive at Patsy Sommer ES for Libraries of Love during April. Pflugerville-based Libraries of Love accepts book donations throughout the year and makes an annual delivery to Uganda in the summer. The efforts of the girls truly paid off and they were able to collect more than 750 books for the organization. Great job, ladies!
Troop 2062 recently started a service project to rebuild a Purple Sage Garden that had not been properly cared for over the years. They were able to secure much needed donations from Home Depot. The picture above shows the girls and volunteers after the initial clearing of the land. We'll show updates on their progress periodically! Good luck girls.
Several Girl Scouts from Ladybug Service Unit participated in a Memorial Day celebration at the Liberty Hill Veteran of Foreign Wars. The girls, along with local Boy Scouts, paid tribute to those who have served our country with honor.

  • Camp: The gates of camp opened last Sunday to all incoming campers at Kachina and Texlake! Zilker Day Camp stated a day later on Monday. The camp staff has been hard at work for some time making sure everything is perfect and ready to go for our campers. We've also shared tips for preparing for camp on our Facebook page. Sound like fun to you? (And why wouldn't it?) There are still spots open! Sign up now.
  • LRPP: The newly established Long Range Property Planning Committee held their first meeting recently and set dates for upcoming Visioning Meetings in August. Attendance by membership is crucial to the process of ensuring the delivery of excellent outdoor programming opportunities for our girls. See the dates and locations here.
  • Gold Awards: Sixty Girl Scouts from Central Texas will be recognized at the state-wide Gold Award ceremony this Saturday starting at 10a.m. at the capitol in Austin. Community leader and Girl Scout Woman of Distinction Sylvia Acevedo will give the keynote address and Gold Award Recipient and Young Woman of Distinction Mandy Justiz  will speak as well. The public is invited to attend in support of our girls!

Connect with fellow Girl Scouts, learn new skills and have fun with GSCTX programming! Check out the full list on our online calendar.

Fun for all levels - you're invited to join us at the Microsoft Store at the Domain! Events will be held throughout the summer and we encourage all Girl Scouts to check it out for opportunities to earn computer expert badges, entertainment technology badges and more!

Enjoy an evening at Dell Diamond cheering on the Round Rock Express as they take on the the New Orleans Zephyrs! Wear your uniform and bring your troop flag to wave around at the Girl Scout parade before the game. The real fun begins once the game ends and all girls are invited to take over the field - run bases, rock climb, create SWAPS and watch a movie on the Jumbotron!
