Troop Volunteer Role
You may have noticed a new volunteer role appear for your troop in MYGS. The troop volunteer role has been added to help ensure all who need background checks are being sent the link.
Parents and others who are serving in volunteer roles without a position description such as drivers, finance roles, chaperones for events & travel or those actively participating (3 or more meetings/events) with your troop should be directed to select troop volunteer. This selection will trigger a background check. Those who will be driving girls should choose "yes" when asked if they are a driver.
The Friends and Family Network is for parents, grandparents and other adult members who are not actively involved where a background check is not required.

This month's C.A.P.E.* Award goes to
Caroline Avegno, Co-leader for Brownie Troop 40025! If not for Caroline's determination, Metairie Community 401 wouldn't have made their 2015-16 AFGC Goal! Although excited to camp, her troop had never been on a camp-out, and she was excited to learn that our Community could earn a free-camp out if we made our annual goal. Although she was not the AFGC Captain, her enthusiasm kept the chair working hard and pushed for all in the Community to meet their goal. When Community 401 was down to the wire and less than $100 from meeting the goal, she personally collected the remaining funds from her troop parents and hand-delivered it to council to make sure the Community made their goal by the deadline!
The Community 401 was able to have their first encampment in years, with over 70 girls having a blast and making incredible memories! Thank you to Caroline Avegno for going above and beyond for the girls.
We are now accepting nominations for the March hero. This month we will celebrate an all-around AWESOME volunteer. Who in your Community rocks her volunteer role? Please send nominations to Dawn Allen at
no later than February 25, 2017.
