Fall is Here!

Hi Everyone.

This newsletter is devoted to having fun!  To that point, this is my fourth stab at this and I hope you are enjoying hearing from me on this limited basis but if this isn't "fun" I want to remind you that you can opt out with the unsubscribe button found at the bottom of the page.  Sometimes email "clutter" can be just as destructive as personal clutter and if this has become that, then please feel free to let it go!

Fall is my favorite time of year.  I love the cooler weather and the beauty of the changing leaves plus this season brings lots of happy memories.  My twins were born in September, I'm obsessed with college football and Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.  (And if I'm REALLY honest, summers were tough with six kids so I might associate fall with a little freedom as the kids went back to school!)

I don't link fall with organizing necessarily but as I look back over my calendar for the past three years, I have always been busy then so that's nice too.

I hope the coming month brings you lots of happy memories and fun times with family and friends!

News You Can Use

Recycling may not get all the way to FUN on your personal fun meter but most of us do enjoy it when someone else can benefit from something we no longer need or use. Are you remodeling or renovating and want to save some money and  fund good works? Habitat's skilled professionals will remove your kitchen cabinets, appliances, doors, windows and more for FREE when you donate them to Habitat for Humanity. Call 615-942-1273 or email:  jneal@habitatnashville.org

If you aren't doing any major projects but have extra suitcases you don't use, please let me know and I will come and get them.  I'm working with Bridges Domestic Violence Center in Franklin and every woman who leaves them gets a suitcase full of clothes so as you can imagine, they always need suitcases!

Middle Aged Women Just Want to Have Fun!

In the spirit of this newsletter, I'm taking a short break from the makeover of the month. While neither of these pictures are necessarily amazing of me, I'm trying to prove a point.

Taking a spin on a trike at a client's house. Loved how fast this went!

Photo bombed by a bear while walking in the park.

So do something FUN this month and if you get the chance, I'd love to hear from you about it...

About Yikes Organizing

I wish I could say that I've always wanted to be a professional organizer but the truth is that I'm a late bloomer.  I didn't start writing until my thirties and didn't start Yikes until my forties.  I like changing things up and one day realized I had the ideal background for this kind of work.  For one thing we have six kids (no that isn't a typo) and have moved 16 times!  I have lived in really big houses and really small apartments.  I've hoarded (only baby clothes, but still) and I've purged.  But I did finally come to realize what many of you already know...  "Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans." :)

I realize that organizing isn't rocket science but sometimes you need help getting started or the accountability that an organizer provides.  That's what Yikes Organizing is all about.  We will get you from "good grief" to "gorgeous" or at the very least from "disaster" to "delightful."
