At GKAS, Fighting Cavities is Fun
On Give Kids a Smile Day, RSDM was filled with tooth fairies, magic and games. But students and faculty were on a serious mission: to prevent dental decay, one of the most prevalent diseases among children. Nearly 300 Essex County children received free dental screenings and fluoride treatments to prevent cavities at RSDM's Newark clinic. And there were lessons on the proper way to brush and keep teeth healthy, in addition to toothbrush giveaways and other oral health swag.LEARN MORE

Students Put Future Residencies on the Map
At RSDM's annual Match Day tradition, fourth-year students celebrate their acceptance into residency programs. It's a day when life after dental school suddenly seems within reach. Eighty-five percent of 61 students who sought matches were successful, compared to the national rate of 66 percent, according to Dean Cecile A. Feldman.

Admissions Symposium Slated for April 17
Rutgers School of Dental Medicine's annual Admissions Symposium will be held April 17 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the school's Oral Health Pavilion. The symposium, sponsored by the Office of Admissions, is for people who are interested in a dental career.
Georgia on Their Minds: Reunion and CDE in Savannah
Alumni can escape the chill for a reunion and some learning in Savannah, GA from March 9 to 10th. In addition to the reunion, alumni will share their expertise at a Continuing Dental Education program. The event is hosted by the Classes of '83 through '91, but all alums are invited. he RSDM Alumni Association will be holding a business meeting and networking event on February 7 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at NICO Kitchen + Bar, 1 Center Street in Newark, adjacent to NJPAC. The event will feature updates on the RSDM AA Education Network; the annual reunion in April, and an update from Dean Cecile A. Feldman. The cost is $50 per person and includes dinner and dessert. Save the Date for Gala
The annual RSDM Gala will be held on February 17 at The Grove in Cedar Grove. It kicks off with a cocktail hour at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $60 for students, $80 for staff and guests and $100 for faculty and guests. The Grove is located at 691 Pompton Ave, Cedar Grove, NJ 07009.
Kathleen E. Nordman, DMD, Class of '02, passed away on January 11. Kathleen received her DMD from RSDM in 2002 and earned her certificate in Periodontics in 2005. A resident of Randolph, NJ, she had a periodontal practice in Denville.
