Gala 2016--A Great Time Was Had by All!

This year's Masked Gala was both enjoyable and a big success: we raised the 2017 rent money needed for Jajja's Kids home! The setting was lovely, the music was lively, the food was delicious and, best of all, Ronnie was here. It was also great to honor two deserving friends and supporters--Elena Mosley of Operation Unite, Hudson, NY, and Susan Fowler of Delaware Community School in Albany.

Ronnie's Visit

During his three week U.S. visit, Ronnie met with schools, churches and community organizations to thank them for supporting Jajja's Kids and to share stories.   Ronnie especially loved interacting with the kids and answering their questions.

There was also time to enjoy unique new experiences:

Enjoying a special visit to Heifer International in Massachusetts, where Ronnie had given tours of this Global Village four years ago while an intern at Heifer's farm

We Met the Challenge!

Thanks to the generosity of long time friend Jim Suozzo and members of the Jajja's Kids' Board of Directors, we began a Challenge grant in June.  The goal was to raise at least $7,000 by year's end, which would be matched by Jim and our Board. We more than met the challenge:  We have raised over $13,000 since the challenge began!

Thank you to all our wonderful donors, and special thanks  to Jim
for getting us started and giving us such a wonderful boost!

2017 Sponsorship Program

Our first year's education sponsorship program was a great success: 11 children were sponsored for school this year, and two more supported for food and housing as well as education.  We hope to continue with this year's sponsors and have others join us to assist in educating Jajja's Kids.  If you already are a sponsor, we will contact you shortly to request your continued commitment.  And if you wish to support the education of a child, please check our website for more information:

Sponsorships have become a significant cornerstone of our financial stability, since a large portion of the annual budget is devoted to educating our kids.

Thank you for your support!!

Uganda - February 2017

Would you like to spend two weeks in Uganda and have a life-altering experience?   We plan to depart on or around Feb. 7, and return Feb. 23.   Five volunteers plan to go, and there is room for two more.  Previous trips cost about $3,000 for airfare, hotels, transportation, a two night safari, and projects with the kids.

Each year we bring  duffle bags of supplies to Jajja's Kids.  If you can donate any of the following items by Feb. 1 that would be wonderful:
  • Boys (ages 6 to 17) -- pants, shorts, sneakers and sandals
  • Girls (ages 12 to 15) -- skirts, blouses, sandals
  • Laptop computers -- in relatively good working order
Note: Since Uganda sits at the equator, warm weather clothing is prefered.

Please contact Diane at (518) 588-0651 i f you want
to join us,  or have items for us to bring to Uganda!

And Please Remember...

You can help Jajja's Kids while doing your holiday shopping!  When you enroll in the SmileAmazon program and identify Jajja's Kids as the recipient, every dollar spent will be matched with a small donation to us from Amazon. More information can be found at   Amazon Smile Program.

Fianlly, all donations to Jajja's Kids between now and Dec. 31 can be deducted from 2016 income taxes.  And more importantly, your donation now will help us have a strong and succesful 2017.

Thank you as always for your interest and caring of Jajja's Kids!
