Thank You for Your Business!

This is the perfect time of year to reflect on our many blessings. We are so thankful to have seen our business grow over the last few years. I would like to thank our wonderful team of caregivers who bring their talent, compassion and skill to the job each day. I would also like to thank our very special clients, whose trust in us and word of mouth referrals have enabled us to continue to grow and do the job we love to do.

Many thanks,
Tom Kuppens
November is American Diabetes Month
grandpa-girl-sm.jpg

Diabetes is one of the leading causes of disability and death in the United States. One in 11 Americans, or roughly 29 million people, have diabetes, and another 86 million adults in the U.S. are at high risk of developing this disease.

Home Care Plus is helping raise awareness about diabetes and healthy living during American Diabetes Month.  If you are overweight, have high blood pressure, or are age 45 or older, you are at higher risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. The good news is that making healthy lifestyle changes can significantly lower your risk. Small changes can make a big difference, so if you are at risk:
  • Lose weight by eating healthy and exercising more
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables
  • Incorporate more physical activity into your daily life
For more information, visit the American Diabetes Association's website.

Breast Cancer: Reduce Your Environmental Risks

The statistics show an alarming trend. According to the National Cancer Institute, 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer in their lifetimes, up from 1 in 20 just 40 years ago. Research continues to connect environmental exposures to chemicals to breast cancer risk.

Our exposures come from all over--our personal care products, cleaning products, food, air and water. The Breast Cancer Fund, a non-profit focused on exposing and eliminating the environmental causes of cancer, has a comprehensive list of some of the most prevalent chemicals we are exposed to on a daily basis and how to avoid them. For more information on reducing your risk, read our blog!
