Global Engagement Spring Break Trip to Williamsburg
|
International and domestic students can enter a lottery to join the Office of International Affairs on a trip to Williamsburg, Virginia from March 11-14. The long weekend will include a visit to New River Gorge National Park
,
historic Colonial Williamsburg for a look back in time to the American Revolution, an opportunity to tour Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, third president of the United States, as well as a tour of the historical University of Virginia
campus, which was designed by Jefferson. There are 40 spots available, 20 for international students and 20 for domestic students. Transportation, lodging, all breakfasts, some group meals and all museum admissions will be provided.

Apply to Become a Global Ambassador

The Office of International Affairs is seeking both American and international students to volunteer as Global Ambassadors. The Global Ambassadors will be a diverse team of students committed to promoting cultural exchange at Ohio State.
Students who apply must be in good academic standing and be able to attend multiple meetings throughout the year. Visit

At Ohio State, ensuring a healthy and safe campus climate is a top priority. The Campus Climate Survey launched on February 5 and is one part of Buckeyes ACT, Ohio State's comprehensive plan to combat sexual misconduct and relationship violence. This anonymous and voluntary survey is available to all students through Friday, March 10.
The results will be used to guide policies to encourage a healthy, positive and nondiscriminatory environment on campus. The goal is to make Ohio State as safe as possible by developing programs and services that address sexual assault, sexual misconduct and relationship violence. In celebration of Black History Month, Global Engagement will host a Hip-Hop workshop on Thursday, February 23, from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the Women's Field House (located across from the RPAC soccer fields).
Students will learn about Hip-Hop's origin in the '70s and its evolution through the years, while practicing fun dance moves.

Attend Taste of OSU 2017 for a Night of Cultural Exchange

Taste of OSU
is an Ohio State signature event that brings together more than 50 student organizations to provide a night of international food, cultural performances and exhibits to a crowd of about 4,000 attendees.
Entry is free and all are invited to attend. Tickets to purchase small samplings of international foods will cost only $1 each.

Global Leadership Initiative is Accepting Applications

The
Global Leadership Initiative (GLI) is a one-year program for students interested in embracing global perspectives, advocating for diversity and creating a lasting impact in the community.
The 2017 - 2018 cohort will consist of 24 members, including 12 domestic and 12 international students. All applicants must be current undergraduate students who will not graduate prior to the end of spring semester 2018. Please attend an information session and

Attend "Building Confidence in Participating in Discussions and Preparing a Class Presentation" on Thursday, February 16, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. in 160 Enarson Classroom Building.
This session is intended to provide international students with tips on participating in academic discussions and preparing for class presentations. Specifically, the session will offer guidance on: preparing for class discussions, getting involved in class discussions, asking and answering questions during class, useful phrases for academic discussions and presentations, practicing presentations and using feedback. ECP Registration is Open for Spring Semester!

The Office of International Affairs'
English Conversation Program (ECP) is a fun way to connect with Ohio State students from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Each semester, groups of five will meet six times to participate in discussions and fun events and activities on campus and around Columbus.
Being part of ECP will open world views, help students increase their Global English proficiency, give participants a chance to make new friends and develop better public and impromptu speaking skills.

Global Engagement Film Series
|
The Office of International Affairs collaborates with the Gateway Film Center to host our international film series. Students have the chance to view films from around the world for free!
The film tells the story of two tribes at war. When a young girl, Wawa, is betrothed as part of a peace deal, she runs away with her lover, resisting the arranged marriage and causing friction to arise. Watch the trailer!
Admission is free for students with a BuckID. The first 30 students will receive free popcorn and soda! The films are open to the public at regular admission price.
