Avoid Travel Scams
Unfortunately, increasing numbers of international students are targeted by scams. Please review this information to learn how to protect yourself from potential scammers.

Beware of travel "brokers" who promise to book your international flights for lower costs. You can spot these scammers when they require you to pay up front in order to secure tickets.

Avoid this scam by:
  • Doing your research. Search the internet to see if a great deal you find might be a scam.
  • Talking to an attorney at Student Legal Services (SLS) if you suspect a scam.
  • Not feeling pressured to pay. Do not conduct business with a company or person that hurries you to make a payment.
  • Knowing that if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
For more guidance on avoiding scams, please visit the scam page of the Student Legal Services website. If you believe you are the victim of any type of scam or fraudulent activity, or are concerned about potential scams, please schedule an appointment to speak to an SLS attorney (visit or call 614-247-5853).
