Global Glam - United States and South Korea
Join Global Engagement as we take a look at beauty trends from the United States and South Korea. 

There will be a live makeup demonstration as we discuss the similarities as well as differences between the two cultures. This event will be part of our International Education Week calendar of events!
 
The event will take place on Monday, November 13 starting at 5:30 p.m. in 100 Enarson Classroom Building.

Apply to Speak at the Autumn Candlelight Ceremony
Students graduating Autumn 2017 should consider applying for our Student Speaker position at our Autumn Candlelight Ceremony.
 
This Ceremony celebrates graduating students and reflects on their experiences here at Ohio state. If selected, you could be addressing your fellow students as the keynote speaker.
 
All you have to do is submit your proposed speech that expresses your thought, feelings and experiences here at Ohio State. These speeches and application are due TODAY, November 6 at 11:59 p.m.
 
Applications will be reviewed and a few selected applicants will be asked to perform their speech in front of a panel of judges. From there, you be notified if you were selected.
 
Both Graduates and Undergraduate students are welcome to apply! Apply  online.
 
The Candlelight Ceremony will be taking place December 14, 2017 from 7 - 8 p.m. in the Performance Hall.

New Credit-Bearing Course for First Year International Students
All international undergraduate students, and particularly those in their first year, are invited to enroll in a newly developed seven-week course for spring semester 2018, ESEPSY 2059: Becoming a Self-Regulated Learner (class number: 35054; TuTh 2:20 p.m. section; Younkin 220). 

The course is designed to help international students adapt to U.S. academic culture and practice skills (e.g., communicating with instructors, class participation, source citation, time management, active learning) needed for success in Ohio State classrooms. 

T he two credit hour course will be offered during the first seven-week session of Spring '18. The instructor has many years of experience working with international students and with teaching study skills.

Global Engagement Night - Music Around The World
Join the Office of International Affairs for Global Engagement Night every Tuesday evening during the semester. Domestic and international students are invited to engage in weekly conversations on a variety of themes. 

The next Global Engagement Night's topic will be about music around the world, and it will take place tomorrow, November 7, from 6 - 7 p.m. in 160 Enarson Classroom Building. 

We will have snacks. We hope to see you there!

The Truth About Sex
Global Engagement has partnered with Sexual Civility and Empowerment to host an important discussion on sex and healthy relationships. This event will have two separate sessions, one for women only and one for men only.

These sessions are aimed at debunking the stereotypes and myths you learned about sex, so that we can all get a true understanding of what sex is really about.

Global Engagement Film Series
The Office of International Affairs collaborates with the Gateway Film Center to host a monthly international film series. Students have the chance to view films from around the world for free! 

The next film will be shown on Wednesday, November 22 at 7 p.m. at the Gateway Film Center. 

Registration is not required, but make sure to arrive early because the first 30 students will receive free popcorn and soda! 

Admission is FREE for students with a BuckID and offered at regular price to the public.

Movember
This November, Student Life's Counseling and Consultation Service (SLCCS) at Ohio State will be holding the fourth annual "Movember" Campaign. 

The Movember Campaign is a world wide effort to raise awareness around men's physical and mental health issues. The campaign is a combination of events, activities, and partnerships across campus.

The campaign encourages men to grow facial hair in the month of November in order to raise awareness of men's physical and mental health issues. 

Additionally,  SLCCS  will be hosting eleven outreach events that we will be facilitating throughout the month of November across campus. The calendar of events is available  online

The first event is the Men's Mental and Physical Health Fair which will be on November 1 on the South Ova
l. There will be food, music, tailgating games, resources/SWAG from offices across campus, and more.
Institute for Japanese Studies Lecture Series
The Institute for Japanese Studies will host Professor Kaoru Iokibe from the University of Tokyo for a lecture titled, "From Black Ships to ONE PIECE: Japan-U.S. Relations."

His talk will cover the history of Japan-U.S. relations, from Admiral Perry's Black Ships and the subsequent opening of Japan until today's frequent political, economic, military and cultural interactions between the two countries.
