'Fly Delta' iOS App Update Lets Users Track Luggage -
Using radio frequency ID tags (RFID), introduced earlier this year, Delta now allows customers to track their luggage on their phones. The app shows the luggage's "last known location," determined by the airport at which it was last scanned.

While the update is available now, Delta said that push notifications won't be coming until later in the year, but will offer Delta customers real-time updates on their checked baggage.

The new bag tracking ability in the Fly Delta app is available at all of Delta's domestic airports -- 84 total in the U.S. -- and the airline said international stations will be gaining the feature in the coming months. Fly Delta is available to download from the iOS App Store for free.
Runway Work Could Cause Flight Delays on Several Weekends at San Francisco and Oakland Airports from March 31  -
San Francisco International has scheduled a major maintenance project for its Runway 28L that could mean some weekend flight delays during the next four months. While most of the work will be done during late-night hours, the runway will be shut down during several weekends. The weekend closures are scheduled for  6 p.m. Friday through  noon the following Monday on the weekends of  March 31April 7, 21 and 28;  May 5, 12 and 19; and  June 2 and 9. The schedule is subject to change depending on weather, and some delays may occur during weekend closures.

A similar project is coming this summer at Oakland International, where Runway 12-30 is due to get an asphalt concrete overlay. The airport hasn't issued a schedule for the work yet, but said it expects to exercise "a short-duration, full closure option" for the runway, which is typically in use 24 hours a day. During the closure, the airport will use a parallel taxiway as a temporary runway. The airport didn't say what the impact would be on flight operations.
