The exhibition Caribbean: Crossroads of the World is the culmination of nearly a decade of collaborative research and scholarship organized by El Museo del Barrio in conjunction with the Queens Museum of Art and The Studio Museum in Harlem. Presenting work at the three museums and accompanied by an ambitious range of programs and events, Caribbean: Crossroads offers an unprecedented opportunity to explore the diverse and impactful cultural history of the Caribbean basin and its diaspora. More than 500 works of art spanning four centuries illuminate changing aesthetics and ideologies and provoke meaningful conversations about topics ranging from commerce and cultural hybridity to politics and pop culture.

The second installation of a three-exhibition series, PERSOL MAGNIFICENT OBSESSIONS: 30 stories of craftsmanship in film, uncovers ten powerful stories of obsessive workmanship within filmmaking. It offers a unique opportunity to view rarely seen artifacts from some of cinema's most legendary films, as well as behind- the-scenes research notes, sketches, video interviews, and materials used in the development process by some of the world's greatest filmmakers.

JAPAN CUTS The New York Festival of Contemporary Japanese Cinema returns to Japan Society from July 12th to July 28th for its sixth consecutive year. With 39 titles and 37 screenings, this year's festival, which is North America's largest showcase of contemporary Japanese cinema, is the biggest one yet. Almost all of this year's films are making their international, North American, or New York premieres, and the selections promise to represent Japan's cutting-edge film scene, whether it be uplifting family fare, brooding dramas, blockbusters, or thrillers.
