Greetings!

I can smell Fall coming can you? I know, I know it's still mid nineties and sweltering but the 100 degree days are past. It's amazing the difference 10 degrees makes! Time to come back out and try the decks! Our first Octoberfests are pouring in, we're pouring Real Ale and Live Oak Octoberfests at Marina and Penn Field and Freehouse will be following shortly! Couple of festivals coming up, National Talk Like a Pirate Day at Penn Field this Sunday and our 2nd annual GO TEXAN BEER week at all three Opal's. Our beer geek staff has been looking forward to this event all year! We start out by filling every tap at every Opal's with nothing but Texas Beers, then we throw in some stashed cask offerings and who knows what else? We've been pigeon holing beer all year for this one! We'll be making announcements about special tappings all during the week via our Twitter and Facebook accounts, follow us to be the first to know!

Go Texan Beer Week

'Go Texas Beer' week during the GoTexan Restaurant Roundup means Opal's is going BIG by putting Texas Beers on Every Tap the week of Sept 28 through Oct 2nd!
We're also tapping some special cask conditioned ales during the week.

We'll be featuring Texas Beers on tap from:

Live Oak Brewing (Austin, TX), 512 Brewing (Austin, TX), Independence Brewing (Austin, TX), Real Ale Brewing (Blanco, TX), Thirsty Planet (Austin, TX) Shiner Beers (Shiner, TX), Lone Star Beer (Ft. Worth, TX), St. Arnold Brewing (Houston, TX), Southern Star Brewing (Conroe, TX)

This is all for a great cause as well, 5% of the proceeds from the sale of all our Texas beers during this week will be donated to the Capital Area Food Bank! Texans drinking Texas Beers helping Texas Charities, What a great idea!

This year we'll be featuring different breweries on different days of the week. On the featured brewery days all their pints that are normally $4.50 we'll be only $2.50! Look for some special releases on these days! The schedule is:

Monday - 512 Brewing

Tuesday - Independence Brewing Company

Wednesday - All Texas Breweries!

Thursday - Real Ale Brewing Company

Friday - Live Oak Brewing Company

Wednesdays at Opal's is always Two for Texas ($2.50 Texas beers from open to close)

We also have beer specials every night of the week
Monday is Belgian Beer Night | Tuesday is Pint Night | Wed is 2 for Texas | and Thursday through Saturday get $1 off selected drafts from 4-7PM and all day on Sunday!
6th Annual National Talk Like A Pirate Day Festival at Penn Field
Melon Head Yaargh, ye mateys it's that time of year again. We'll be hoistin the Jolly Roger and downing some Grog and Ales. Captain Phleabag will be there with his band The Jolly Garogers featuring the Rhythm Dawgs ripping out the finest in Pirate inspired rock. We'll be having a Best Dressed Wench and Best Dressed Pirate contest with a $75 first prize for each contest so come in yer finest regalia! We'll be serving a plenty of Shinarrrgh Bock Pints and House Maargharitas for $3.00. This years party falls on a Sunday so it'll be Top Shelf Sunday Specials with all but the Million Dollar Margaritas on sale for $7.00 or less. As you know we serve nothing but 100% Agave Tequila at Opal Divine's. No self respecting Pirate would serve anything less! Can you say that about any other "Margarita" bar in Austin?
You Talk, We Listen
Tooties Buttermilk Pie Every menu change brings out some winners and some missing favorites. We have been getting complaints on our new Hummus recipe so we are going back to our old vendor. It is a more costly alternative but is what you asked for. We will still be serving it at half price during Austin's Best Happy Hour 4-7PM Monday through Friday.
Another new addition is the Tootie's Buttermilk Pie. This pie is Tootie's and my favorite! We've got some complaints on the size of the slices so we have gone from a 1/12 slice to an 1/8 slice for this awesome dessert, that's 50% more pie for the same price.
Then there are the wings. I am amazed at the number of requests we have to bring these back. We are currently trying to source some wings that meet Opal's standards that we can sell at a reasonable price. Look for them to return soon as a daily special, it is football season after all!
Speaking of Football, we have added new TVs to both Penn Field and Freehouse. We have two new flat screens TVs over the bar at Penn Field and have added a 100" projection TV on the deck at the Freehouse. Come on in or out and cheer on your favorite teams!
What is "Austin Grill"? It's the intersection of American Grill and Southwestern cuisine with an emphasis on fresh and natural protein and produce. It's hormone and antibiotic free, never frozen burgers and fresh, natural chicken. It's Chef driven food with a mantra of "fresh friendly naturally". Austin Grill is handmade margarita mixes made daily with fresh squeezed lime juice, organic agave nectar and real fruit purees. It's a premium well, 36 craft and import drafts, 65 Single Malts and nothing but 100% Agave Tequilas. We want to make sure that "It's Worth it at Opal Divine's!"
