A choir of New York City students joins conductor David Robertson and the Orchestra of St. Luke's for a definitive performance of Orff's Carmina Burana. In addition, three high school–aged composers have been selected to write new works for chorus and orchestra based on the musical themes of Carmina Burana. These new works will be premiered on the first half of the program.

Featuring works by over 100 artists and architects, the Annual reveals the cross-generational dialogue occurring in the art world by juxtaposing contemporary masters with emerging and mid-career artists, showcasing Academicians and invited artists and architects. Featured artists include Ellen Altfest, Karl Benjamin, David Diao, Lesley Dill, Kate Gilmore, Joan Jonas, Roberto Juarez, Glenn Ligon, Malcolm Morley, Alison Saar, Arlene Shechet, Ursula von Rydingsvard, Carrie Mae Weems, Stephen Westfall, among many others. And on February 15, hear a panel discussion on The State of Contemporary Art, which brings together professionals from various aspects of the art world to critically assess the current state of contemporary art.

Athena Film Festival Fri. Feb. 10 - Sun. Feb. 12

The festival features 30 films (features, documentaries and shorts) as well as several special events (including two panels for filmmakers, a sneak preview of Half the Sky and a Hollywood conversation with TV creators Winnie Holzman and Savannah Dooley) all focused on illuminating the stories of courageous women who have made a difference across the globe. Film highlights include The Whistleblower starring Rachel Weisz, Wish Me Away, the coming out journey of country singer Chely Wright, Black Butterflies starring Carice Van Houten, and HBO’s Gloria: In Her Own Words, a documentary about Gloria Steinem. The Lady starring Michelle Yeoh as Burmese activist Aung San Suu Kyi will serve as the closing film of the Festival.
