Called Together
Rev. Hardy H. Kim, preaching

This Sunday we’re going to be marking the end of another school year. This also means that many of our members will be celebrating the completion of big academic accomplishments. We want to be able to celebrate these things together!

As members of this community, we’ve often experienced how it can be important for us to share the things that are happening in our lives – even the hard and painful things. But do you ever wonder why? Why is it that our triumphs seem more joyful when we can lift them up in a group? Why are we able to get through the rough patches a little quicker, just knowing that others are thinking of us with care?

Maybe it’s all because God intends for us to share our lives with each other, and gives us real ways to be connected in our living. This Sunday we hope you’ll come and celebrate our graduates and degree recipients – and reflect on the idea of being a faith family together!

Theme for Sunday

Therefore, let him who until now has had the privilege of living a common Christian life with other Christians praise God’s grace from the bottom of his heart. Let him thank God on his knees and declare: It is grace, nothing but grace, that we are allowed to live in community with Christian brethren. --Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together
Questions for Reflection

  • Who are these people to you, and why is your connection with them important?

  • Are there ways you can see God’s Spirit or power working through these people?
Scripture Reading : Mark 3:20-35

...the crowd came together again, so that they could not even eat. When his family heard it, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, "He has gone out of his mind." And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He has...
