WHO'S ON CAMPUS

Jason Gustin
5th/6th Grade Science & World Cultures Teacher

This year marked the beginning of my 14 th  year of teaching.  The past seven years have been spent here at MCC .  Previously, I taught for Holton Public Schools as an 8 th  grade science teacher, as well as a 6 th  grade science teacher at Steele Middle School here in Muskegon.  My wife Jamie is a first grade teacher for Fruitport Community Schools.  We are both graduates of Muskegon High School as well as Grand Valley State University.  God has blessed us with three wonderful children who have attended MCC since preschool.  Our oldest son Aaron is in 7 th  grade, Braden is in 5 th  grade and our daughter Kendall is in 1 st  grade.  We are members of Our Lady of Grace Parish.  Teaching at a Catholic school gives me the opportunity to bring Christ into my classroom in a way that I could not before in a public school.

Amanda Lee

MS/HS English Teacher

I have been teaching for eleven years. I graduated from Grand Valley State University with my Bachelor's Degree. I am certified to teach secondary English and Psychology. I also have an elementary endorsement.  I am in my sixth year of teaching middle school/high school English at Muskegon Catholic Central.  My husband and I have three children: Abby in 4th grade, Max in 1st grade (both attend MCC) and three year old Elijah. I am so grateful to be part of the MCC staff and community.

Kris Silva

HS English Teacher

I began teaching at MCC in 2012.  Before coming to MCC, I taught middle and high school English at Hastings High School. I  married David Silva Jr. '93 this summer in a beautiful ceremony on the family "Compound" in Hesperia. Dave works for Newaygo Career Tech as a construction trades instructor and his daughter, Molly, is a junior at Western Michigan Christian. Both of my sons attend MCC. Eli is a senior and Gabe is in 8th grade. I graduated from Central Michigan University and then from Aquinas College.

2015 Fund-A-Need Projects
Over $149,000 was raised at the Rainbow Auction for Fund-A-Need!  Improvements were made over the summer to the main and elementary school entrance floors, new doors leading to the courtyard near the auditorium, elementary hall floors and elementary bathrooms. The high school boy's bathrooms are currently under construction.
Thank You to all who donated!

Sponsor a Chromebook

Change is in the air! Muskegon area schools are switching in record numbers from Windows PC's to Chromebooks. And Muskegon Catholic Central is no exception. After four years, our Acer netbooks have reached the end of their useful lifespan. And this year students in grades 7-12 received an 11" HP Chromebook. These computers are affordable, have batteries that last an entire school day and are built for cloud collaboration. Gone are the days of printing reports. With Google Classroom, students turn in their assignments simply by clicking "Submit". And Google's simple yet comprehensive device management package will allow staff to spend less time maintaining computers and more time focusing on ways technology can benefit students in the classroom.

Please consider a donation to help fund this program. Your donation of $300 will pay for one Chromebook, giving an MCC student the knowledge and skills to succeed and make an impact for Christ in today's world.  Please send your donation to:

Muskegon Catholic Central
Attn:Chromebooks
1145 W. Laketon Ave.
Muskegon, MI 49441
Please note in the memo line of your check "Chromebook"
Checks can be made payable to Muskegon Catholic Central
Hall of Fame Trophy Case Project

The lockers in this hallway, used by students in the original school starting in 1953, have not been used for well over two decades. During this same period, the success of our athletic teams has created an overabundance of trophies with not nearly enough space to display them all properly. Thanks to the expertise of woodworkers Henry Salisz and Tom Tejchma and electrical work of Mark Hansen, the first set of lockers were removed and replaced with a trophy case in the spring of 2014. This case was purchased by funds from MCC Class of 2013, MCC Class of 1963 and Alfred and Virginia Cayo. The second trophy case was purchased and dedicated in Fond Memory of Ray Cioe, Coach Roger Chiaverini and Donny Pasco '73.  The cost of each case complete with materials, electrical and labor is $2500. Cases can be purchased as a whole or by section for $850 each. The next two cases are already installed and ready for purchase! Additional cases will be built and installed as purchases are made. If you are interested or would like more information, please call 231-755-1000.

MCC Class of 1975 held their 40th Class reunion July 11th, 2015

Hagar's Hideaway was the beautiful sight.   An approximate total of 86 of our 212 total class attended with 21 guests.   We held a beautiful tribute to our deceased classmates.  Fifteen Green and Gold Tiki Torches were lit as our class song was being played and names were announced in order of their passing. It was very touching.   We feel very proud of the occasion that was held.

UPDATES

David Glover '96
Since my glorious days at MCC, I went off to Central Michigan where I  received  my bachelor's degree in Health Fitness and Exercise Science with a minor in Nutrition.  I enjoyed my time in Mt. Pleasant and learned a great deal during my time as a Chippewa.  Following graduation from CMU I worked at the Omni Fitness Club for 8 months as one of the personal trainers there on staff.  This was an incredible opportunity for me to shape and develop my skills putting together workout plans for people, which would come in handy later.  I then went off to Seton Hall in New Jersey where I earned my Masters of Science in Athletic Training.  God opens many doors and upon graduation from Seton Hall I was hired by the New York Jets as a Seasonal Assistant Athletic Trainer for the 2004 season.  This was a tremendous experience and I learned so much working alongside some of the best athletic trainers in the business.  My time with the Jets gave me the confidence and the tools to feel ready to run my own training room.  So in 2005 I took the Head Baseball Athletic Trainer's position at Rutgers University.  This was a truly rewarding experience as I was called upon to be the one making all the decisions with regards to the medical care that each of the players would receive.  It was at Rutgers University that I felt I came into my own.  Once again God came knocking and I opened the door to the career that I still have now.  For the better part of the last 9 years I have served as one of the Assistant Athletic Trainers for the Kansas City Chiefs.  I have grown so much professionally and personally during that time and have been truly blessed to be living my dream.  God has been so good to me in giving me the chance, confidence and skills to take care of these players day in and day out.  I am responsible for practice and game coverage, I travel with the team to all away games, I do all of the supply, Gatorade and water ordering as well.  I do the concussion testing on all players, new rookies free agents everyone as well as rehabbing various injuries from torn biceps following surgery to micro fracture surgery rehab.  I am living testament to prayer, hard work and determination all things I have been rooted in from my wonderful and supportive parents and solid foundation from MCC.
