Westerman Addresses GTEDC Members and Guests at Annual Dinner

Infrastructure, Timber and Area Accomplishments Highlighted
Congressman Bruce Westerman addressed a well attended GTEDC Annual Dinner during the month of May. He praised accomplishments in the area such as the Highland Industrial Park, Camden, the Engineering program at SAU, Magnolia and the growing Entertainment District, El Dorado.
Infrastructure needs, including I-69, and the associated legislative challenges were discussed. Westerman also spoke about the forestry bill that he is trying to get passed in Congress that will benefit the region.

Students Participate in
Meet and Greet with Congressman Westerman
The GTEDC provided a special networking opportunity for students in the region at the 2017 Annual Dinner. Students from area colleges and high schools took advantage of the GTEDC's discount student ticket offer to the Annual Dinner and were treated to a Meet and Greet with U. S. Congressman Bruce Westerman.

I-69 Coalition Meeting Held

A meeting of the I-69 Coalition was held May 9th in Monticello, Arkansas. Former AHTD Director Dan Flowers welcomed the group. Highway Commissioner Robert Moore addressed the group about the importance of the Great River Bridge. AHTD Deputy Director and COO Lori Tudor reiterated that "significant Federal assistance will be required to advance development of the I-69 corridor." I-69 projects that have been submitted to the federal government are:
  • Great River Bridge
  • Monticello Bypass to McGehee
  • Connector - Monticello Bypass to Pine Bluff

The meeting concluded with Congressman Westerman addressing the group and acknowledging the funding challenges of the project. The AHTD slide presentation may be viewed at the link below.
