Chicken Feeder Kids Video
And we're not just talking about frolicking chickens!

Someone stole the chicken feeder right from under our beaks. Watch the video (click on the image to the right) to hear about two local kids who took egg-ception to the theft, and laid plans to raise money for a new feeder. Heroes really do come in all sizes!

Keep on reading to learn about what's coming up in Golden, including the Boards and Commissions Open House this evening at the Golden Community Center.

Have an egg-cellent week!

Linking Lookout (US 6 & 19th St. Interchange)

Pedestrian and bike traffic along 19th Street will be moved on to the old 19th Street pavement so work can begin on replacing and re-grading the sidewalk. The separation between bikes, pedestrians and traffic is a line of white candlestick barricades. Please drive and walk carefully.

Styrofoam sculpting and placement of the special lightweight dirt (magic dirt) is near complete. Irrigation is being installed on lid.

The bridge monuments on the south side have only two more pours to be complete and ready for rock facing. Installation of the bridge rail arch on the south end will begin this week.

The drainage work in the northeast quadrant continues, as they pour the new concrete channel. There has been some 6th Ave. trail use from the closure up the hill to the south and then over to West Campus Drive via a social trail. This trail is blocked during the drainage work because of equipment on the trail and the open ditch to the west. There will also be some lane closures on US 6 to allow safe access for concrete trucks.

Excavation continues on the remaining US 6 mainline on the south side of the lid. Soil nail walls are being constructed as the excavation continues to deepen the cut.

Construction of the water quality pond near the hang gliding landing field continues.

We had a drone flight last Wednesday. Below you can compare an aerial photo taken one year ago with an image captured from last week's drone flight to see how much work has taken place!

Watch the Linking Lookout web page for more information.

There is a construction viewing area in the northwest corner that can be accessed from Parfet Estates Drive, and will be an excellent location to view ongoing work. Please park legally.

Water Main Breaks

There have been two water main breaks on Orchard St. - one on 4th and one on 5th Street. Repairs began on Thursday and were completed on Saturday. Thanks for everyone's patience!  More work is being  done in the area this week on Orchard St. from West 5th Ave. to the US 6 Frontage Rd. The road will be closed and detours set up from McIntyre St. to West 3rd Place to Orchard St. Local traffic to the businesses on the frontage road will be open.
2017 Utility Replacement

Final review of plans is happening this week.
Stormwater

Crews started work on the detention pond by Starbucks. The trail along Hwy 93 will be closed for 2-3 days this week depending on the weather. The work will address conditions related to seasonal groundwater flows, improving water quality and extending the life of adjacent pavement.
44th Avenue Trail Work

Abutments to the bridge over Farmer Highline Canal are being poured. Local site revegetation is beginning. Projected completion is planned for late February, except for the bridge of Farmers Highline Canal which is expected in April.
