Golden - a great place to live, a great place to visit
This week marks National Travel and Tourism Week, an annual national tradition that unites communities across the country to acknowledge what travel means to American jobs, economic growth and personal well-being. While we all know what a great place Golden is to live in, it's also an amazing place to visit, packed with beautiful parks, waiting adventures, and fabulous restaurants and shops. Tourism is an important part of our city's economy, and this week offers a good moment to recognize that. Golden kicked off National Travel & Tourism Week with an Explore Golden Rally & Colorado Tourism Office Roadshow event at the Golden Visitors Center yesterday morning. For more information about Golden's Travel and Tourism Week events, please go to Visitgolden.com.
Keep reading to see what else is on tap in Golden over the next week, and have a wonderful week!

Linking Lookout (US 6 & 19th St. Interchange)
Paving of the mainline US 6 is complete. We are getting close to the phase 4 traffic flip, now planned for May 25, so watch for details. As always, the Linking Lookout page will have up-to-date information. The reason it was pushed back is part weather, but also concern over things such as slope stabilization, drainage and median work that could be done after the switch, but in so doing, would be less safe for crews and drivers.
Concrete curbs and medians will be completed, but water from Monday's rains have slowed work. Soil placement and irrigation is occurring for median landscaping on both north and south sides.
The rock facing on the large south bridge monuments is complete, and the rock caps will be placed as soon as soil has dried out so the crane needed to lift them can be set up on the sides of the monuments.
Grading for the sidewalk and westbound 19th street lane on the north side of 19th will continue as weather allows.
Construction of the water quality pond near the hang gliding landing field continues, weather permitting. Park only in designated areas if you are accessing the landing field or Chimney Gulch Trail.
Irrigation and lighting work continues on the lid, as well as lighting under the bridge.
There is a construction viewing in the northwest corner that can be accessed from Parfet Estates Drive, and is an excellent location to view ongoing work. Please park legally.
Crews have completed paving US 6 in preparation of the Phase 4 traffic flip, now scheduled for May 25.
