Golisano Children's Hospital Gala Soars to New Heights

Gala chandelierMore than 820 hospital supporters, dressed to the nines in tuxes and gowns, descended upon the Rochester Riverside Convention Center last Saturday, Oct. 30, to celebrate the 23rd annual Gala for Golisano Children's Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center. The event exceeded expectations, raising a record-breaking gross total of $874,000 for the Golisano Children's Hospital.

Joe with Peter sculpture

This year's Gala was a particularly special one, which looked to the future of the hospital as it reflected fondly on the past. The event was dedicated to Peter Formicola, last year's honorary chair of the Gala, who sadly passed away shortly after helping bring record-breaking totals to the 2009 Gala. To the right, Peter's close friend, Joe Floreano, holds a sculpture made in honor of Peter.

The event's success was made possible by st rong and driven Wayne and Beverly advocates like Wayne and Beverly LeChase, the event's honorary chairs; The Cabot Group, the event's dedicated presenting sponsors; Tom Golisano, the hospital's namesake; and many other sponsors, donors, volunteers Tom Golisanoand attendees who made the event unforgettable in its glamorous nature and deep-seated compassion. The level of dedication and hope at the Gala defied concerns about tough economic times and proved that our community can and will continue to help make miracles happen for our region's children.
