In the story referenced above, Shaheer Faltas, who green-lighted this program at Journey School says:
"In six years we haven't had a single episode of cyberbullying or any incident related to digital drama. It's a gamble not to teach this. If we care about our children and society, we have to teach kids how to be good citizens. How can we do this without talking about digital citizenship?"
Isn't it time for YOUR school to become a Cyber Civics school?
A Gift of Professional Development For You
Through the generosity of a CyberWise sponsor we are excited to announce a FREE
"Summer of Professional Development" for the teachers of any school that signs up for Cyber Civics by June 19, 2015.
This is a $50 value per teacher!
How It Works
Once your school signs up for Cyber Civics for 2015-16, will set you up with a code that will enable any teacher planning to
teach these lessons to t
ake any or all our of six online
Digital Life Skills
classes. These short, easy courses cover many of the same topics included in Cyber Civics--Balance, Ethical Use, Privacy, Reputation, Relationships, Online Safety--and were designed to prepare and "certify" any teacher planning to teach Cyber Civics in the classroom.
Workshops
We are also scheduling workshops now for teachers who prefer hands-on learning. Our workshops overview the entire curriculum with demonstrations of lessons on digital citizenship, information literacy and/or media literacy. We also offer workshops for parents. Please contact us
i
f you would like to schedule a workshop at your school and/or to come to Journey School in Aliso Viejo, CA, for a workshop/observation.
Looking forward to helping you "teach students to be good citizens in a digital age"!
