MILITARY CAREERS DAY AT LITTLETON HIGH SCHOOL
A BIG SUCCESS!

GSN partnered with Littleton High School to create a Military Exploration Workshop for their students as well as those from surrounding high schools including Englewood, Sheridan, Colorado's Finest High School of Choice, Heritage, and Arapahoe. All five branches of the military were represented on October 5th to provide students with the opportunity to discover military related career pathways (Enlistment, ROTC, Military Academies, National Guard, etc.) and get real time experience interviewing to enter a military academy. "We are excited and proud to offer students the opportunity to experience post-secondary military pathways," said Assistant Principal Cathy Benton. Student attendees also had the opportunity to hear from Colorado's U.S. Representative Mike Coffman about his own military experience. Parents were invited to shadow their children throughout the day and speak with Blue Star Mothers, who have firsthand knowledge of having a child in the military.

Wendy Loloff Piersee, CEO at GSN, reflects on the importance of implementing these and similar opportunities in schools, "Generation Schools Network has been privileged to assist Littleton with this event as part of our work to support integration of robust college/career exposure opportunities at schools across Colorado. This event demonstrates an exemplary commitment by Littleton High School to the 20% of students that need knowledge of post-secondary options in addition to the traditional college trajectory. Kudos to the team at Littleton High School for creating this life-changing opportunity for students!"

Special Thanks to the Anschutz Foundation for Supporting this Effort!

If your school/district is interested in hosting a Military Careers Exploration Workshop or your company is interested in sponsoring a workshop, please contact Leslie Tjajadi.
