Do you have vacant land?
We are looking for land to build simple, decent, affordable housing with low-income families. We will provide recognition in our materials and media as well as a tax receipt for the value of the land. To learn more, visit  www.habitatgo.com or call 613-749-9950 ext. 233.

Carleton Place Build is in Full Swing
Construction is well underway on our build of a single-family home in Carleton Place. The Michaelis/Beauchamp family joined our staff, local Chapter, volunteers and the Mayor of Carleton Place to break ground at 204 Crampton Dr. in August. The house will be Habitat GO's 53rd home and our fourth build in Carleton Place!

Construction began in October and the roof and windows are already in and the insulation and vapour barrier are being installed now.

A special thanks to all of our Adopt-a-Day, Women Build and Youth Build teams, as well as our regular volunteers and local Carleton Place volunteers who have already helped on the site. The home is expected to be completed later this winter.

Celebrating the Holidays at Santa's Parade of Lights in Orleans
We had a fabulous time at  Santa's Parade of Lights  in Orleans on Nov. 30! Everyone on our Habitat Greater Ottawa float had a great time greeting the more than 140,000 people who came out to show their holiday spirit all along St. Joseph Blvd.!

Our largest project to date will get underway soon in Orleans with Phase 1 of our 16-townhome development at Jeanne d'Arc Boulevard and Fortune Drive beginning this spring.

Special thanks to everyone to helped make our first-ever parade float a reality, especially our master float builders (Hans, Phil, Rick and Dan), the ReStore for lending so many supplies and decorations, as well as Linda, Jacques, Bob, Dick, Lilly, Yi, Nancy, Julie, Sandra, Alice, Myrna and especially the children and grandchildren of our Habitat staff members.  They delighted everyone with their big smiles and renditions of Rudolph and Jingle Bells on repeat!

Algonquin College Partnership with Habitat GO's Perth Chapter is a Match Made in Heaven
Habitat GO's new Perth Chapter and Algonquin College's Perth Campus kicked off our new partnership this past September.

Students in Algonquin's Construction Carpentry-Advanced Housing program have been generously donating their time and skills to help build a zero-net energy home as part of their 2016-2017 curriculum. The s tudents are applying green building techniques, considering factors such as annual and long-term energy costs, building maintenance and longevity.

The single-family home is located on Arthur Street in Perth, right across from the Perth Fairgrounds in an area known as PerthWorks.  The students have been building on site twice a week and will continue to do so until the end of the school year, at which point our new Perth Chapter will finish any remaining construction. If you'd like to support this project, please contact Sandra at chapter@habitatgo.com.

Keep your Head & Heart Warm with Raising the Roof
