4th Annual Sheriff's Roast a Success
A special thanks to our 2013 Roast Honoree, Wally Lee, his host committee, our Honorary Chair Sheriff Rutherford, and all our generous sponsors who made this event possible. PAL Hosts 2nd Annual Julian Jackson
Amateur Boxing Championship
On February 9th, amateur boxers from all over Florida weighed in and slipped on their gloves for their chance to compete in the Second Annual Julian E. Jackson Amateur Boxing Championship.  For over a decade, Julian Jackson's generosity and support helped provide the under-served children of Jacksonville a safe place to go after school and the opportunity to compete in boxing. We were honored to host another boxing championship in his name. Congratulations to PAL student boxers who won championship belts: Jose Dones, 16, D'Marco Smith,15, and Audate Yemiyah,12.

"PAL teaches young people to maximize their potential and build confidence in who they are."
- Former PAL Girl of the Year, UF Graduate, US Army Officer, and Law School Bound

"PAL teaches young people to build on who they are.  The officers, staff and coaches teach them to maximize their potential and help them build confidence.  PAL teaches them how to grow and prosper and to look beyond their current situation to where they can go and be.  I spent twelve years at PAL, met a lot of great people, and did a lot of great things. All of those experiences helped mold me into who I am. Running, academics... I was even able to get a scholarship to college as PAL Girl of the Year. I think PAL is a great program and something that needs to remain in the community now and in the future, because we have a lot of kids who don't realize their potential and what they are capable of."

Jacksonville Jaguar Justin Blackmon Visits Westside PAL for Play 60 and Kidz Bite Back Rally

This year PAL is fighting childhood obesity by partnering with the NFL Play 60 and Kidz Bite Back programs to help emphasis the importance of eating healthy and getting plenty of exercise.  In February, Justin Blackmon spoke to the Westside PAL kids about ways they can stay healthy, and then joined them outside for a game of kickball.
