Fr. Andrew installation
I hope you had a great weekend.

History was made last Sunday and the drama still lingers on the pages of the news, TV, and many YouTube segments. Congratulations to the winners.Thank you to the PIC members for organizing the party at Bogartz, and all of the parishioners and friends of St. Clare who joined us. This weekend at the 9:00 a.m. Winter Sports Mass, we welcome two legends of the Detroit Lions. After Mass, all are welcome to join us for pictures and a Sunday Social in the parish hall. Also, if you are free this Sunday evening following the 5:00 p.m. Mass, join the Hospitality Committee and our Youth Group, for some fun with good food, drinks, and trivia questions. Babysitting will be provided - free of charge. Please see pg. 5 for more details.

Gatherings
Our 90th Anniversary Year creates a great opportunity to reenergize our faith and bring to life the mission and vision of our parish and school communities. I am convinced, that working together we will make St. Clare a place that fosters a growing relationship with God in a welcoming, vibrant and healthy community making us an even more amazing parish!  In the next few months there will be several gatherings of parish ministries and leadership to see how we can accomplish this. We are already off to a good start this weekend-meeting with the Sacristans and Bereavement Ministers in our church to review updates and encourage each other in these ministries. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for partaking in the life and ministry of our parish and school.

Bonanza

Last Sunday we kicked off our annual Bonanza Raffle. Tickets were distributed to our 11 Team Captains who will, in turn, distribute them to their sellers. As you know, Bonanza is our only Parish fundraiser. This year, with your help, we plan to again sell all 1,500 tickets.  There are 34 chances to win, and the top prize is $10,000.

Perhaps you would like to help St. Clare with this fundraiser, and at the same time, have a chance to win a prize for just selling Bonanza tickets.  That's right, if you sell a winning ticket you will receive a check for 10% of the amount of the winning prize (over and above the winner's prize).  To qualify as a Bonanza Seller, we ask only that you try to sell a minimum of 5 tickets.  Our list of sellers will appear in next week's bulletin.  If you would like to add your name to our seller's list, please contact: Tim Kramer at (313) 727-3540 or me.

Can't be a seller at this time?  Well can you help your parish by purchasing a ticket?  If each family purchases one $50 ticket, we will easily reach our goal of selling 1,500 tickets.  Call one of our sellers, or stop at the parish offices to purchase your ticket.  Be a winner; support Bonanza 2017 as a Captain, Seller, or Buyer!

It is never too early to say Thank You to St. Clare Parish for your great support of our Lenten Lunch Project. The St. Leo's Lenten Lunch Project boards will be going during the weekend of February 18-19.  There are many ways to contribute to this worthwhile project: shop, cook, deliver food, prep, and serve meals - we are grateful for whatever you can do to make this project a success.  Mark your calendars for our first food drop on Sunday March 5 in the church Social Hall Kitchen.

Simple Suppers are a regular event during Lent at St. Clare.  Plan to come to the Social Hall Dining Area to enjoy homemade soups and fresh baked rolls with fellow parishioners and guests.  Our first one is on Ash Wednesday , March 1 , and then the next five Mondays during Lent.  We encourage Religious Education families to make it a part of their Monday routine.

Thank you to everyone who attended last week's Super Bowl Party at Bogart'z Food & Spirits .  We had a fun time and enjoyed a great buffet put on by Jason and his staff.  What a spectacular ending!  Those of us who waited until the end were treated to an amazing finish.  A special shout out to PIC members (Participation, Involvement and Commitment) for organizing the event.

For more information on our group please contact Mike McDevitt 313-647-5025.  mmcdevitt@stclarem.org.

St. Vincent de Paul

High energy bills can be a "budget buster" for individuals and families living on a limited income.  St. Vincent de Paul has been providing funds via the Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) to help people out of shut-off.  Here at St. Clare,  volunteers have been writing grant applications since October and having access to funds that keep their utilities on has been quite a blessing to the eligible applicants.

Now the program is going a step further.  People who apply for the MEAP are being asked to attend an Energy Savers Workshop . On Saturdays in conjunction with our bi-weekly EAP sessions, instructors from ECOWorks will be conducting a 1 hour 15 minute seminar featuring energy solutions and strategies geared toward self-sufficiency.  This new addition to the EAP process is an effort to help people change the habits and improve the issues in their homes that cause them to get behind on their energy bills in the first place.

If you'd like more information about the energy assistance grant or this new Energy Savers Workshop, please leave a message on our St. Clare SVdP Assistance line:  313-647-5062.

Thanks for helping us help others!
