Community Service Council Impact

If you're not already following us on social media, now is the time. We've just launched a campaign to focus attention on our work through a series of engaging infographics. Look for a new one each week on Facebook and Twitter (@CSC_OK).  Please follow us on both and join in the conversation!
Helping Families and Veterans
CSC Landlord Liaison Courtney Spohn recently represented our Abode Initiative--which helps put families into affordable, quality housing-- as well as other CSC programs that focus on housing and preventing homelessness at the Oklahoma State Apartment Association. With her is Michelle Bachelor, Veterans Administration, who is an important partner in our work to house veterans.
A National Presence

Congratulations to CSC's Healthy Start and Family Health Coalition staff and interns on their excellent work providing the backbone (and enthusiasm) to convene the National Healthy Start Association's (NHSA) annual conference recently in Washington, D.C. Their hard work prior to and throughout the conference, earned CSC public recognition as the "A-Team from Tulsa" by Kenn Harris, president of the NHSA board, in his opening remarks. Program staff, interns and consumers also visited the Oklahoma congressional delegation to talk about their important work
International Impact
More than 325 people attended the International Infant and Toddler Conference put on by CSC's Child Care Resource Center. Presenters came from as far away as New Zealand and Poland. Local experts were featured as well on topics ranging from infants and toddler curriculum to development, discipline, and play.
Our Work has No Borders!

World Learning, a global development and exchange organization, recently published an article focusing on Tulsa's international exchange programs that included a highlight of CSC's Karen Smith, program director of the Child Care Resource Center, and her recent Pakistan exchange.

Congratulations Jan!

CSC's Jan Figart was recently honored by the Margaret Hudson Program during its Teatime Toast to Moms. She was recognized for her continued community service and public health advocacy.

Family Time

Jim Lyall recently retired an Associate Director after 37 years at the Community Service Council.  Jim will continue to his work to restore state funding for 2-1-1 and expand the Community Service Council's capacity to serve military veterans.  He says the increased time with family and friends will be a pure joy.
