Staffing Announcement
Shirley and the Vestry are delighted to announce the call of our new Assistant Rector, Darren Steadman, to round out our clergy team. Darren will shepherd the many lay teams working in Worship Management and Pastoral Care ministries as well as spearhead our new outreach to Young Adults (aka Millennials). Darren graduates from Virginia Seminary in May, with his Master of Divinity and will be ordained, God-willing, on June 9 th as a transitional deacon, with expected ordination to the priesthood in December.
Darren has worked as a Camp Director at our Episcopal Shrine Mont, a Youth Minister for St. Thomas of Richmond, a science teacher for Richmond City schools, and a math teacher for Henrico County schools. He calls Richmond home, and Darren and his fiancée, Abby, are to be married in November. Darren will begin his ministry with us on June 13, 2018. Please get ready to welcome him!
Our mission team has returned from their trip to Haiti and has already begun making plans for how we can all provide support to our brothers and sisters in Haiti. Join us in worship this weekend to learn more about this ongoing relationship!
Song of the Redeemed: A benefit concert for Haiti

The poorest country in the Western hemisphere, Haiti is a nation faced with many challenges. We have sponsored mission trips to Haiti, helped build a compound for their church and school, provided clean water and basic necessities, and offered medical care to the most vulnerable populations. Still, there is more to be done.

Amidst deep political corruption, the church is the most effective source of aid in Haiti. Song of the Redeemed, a benefit concert, will be shared free of charge and you will have the opportunity to make a donation to our mission efforts by check, text giving, or online payment. Help us make a real and long-lasting difference in the lives of others and provide the hope of the redeemed.
Helping Hands come in All Sizes!

For our March "Be the Good" Sunday School mission project, children and helpers packaged Care Bags filled with cleaning supplies and personal hygiene items for ACTS clients. ACTS provides funds, support, and other resources to our RVA neighbors in financial crisis. Their goal is to help those in need live sustainable, self-sufficient, and dignified lives.

Save the Date for an Intergenerational Day of Service

A special thing happens when we serve together! We hope you can join your "church family" for an opportunity to come together and help our youngest members deepen their faith through service to our local community. Rather than doing a traditional Vacation Bible School this summer, we will host a special day of music, crafts, games, and picnic lunch, followed by a hands-on mission project completed right here at CCE.

It all happens on Saturday, July 7 . Many helping hands and hearts of all ages will be needed! Stay tuned for more information and please reach out to Rev. Richard Pelkey with any questions.
