Faculty Uses Dental Forensics to ID Hurricane Victims
As Puerto Rico struggled without power and electricity in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, it was especially difficult for medical examiners to identify victims.

Researcher Explores Alternatives to Root Canal
Dr. Emi Shimuzu's research could some day help end a procedure dental patients dread: the root canal. Shimuzu is an endodontist studying how to regenerate dental pulp and dentin as an alternative to removing pulp during root canals. LEARN MORE
Students Celebrate Diversity on Cultural Night

Dishes ranged ranged from Korean fried pancakes, courtesy of the Asian American Dental Society, to the Hispanic Dental Association's chicken and plantains. RSDM has eight student cultural clubs, reflecting its status as one of the most diverse dental schools in the nation. Donors and Students Connect at Ceremony
Alumni and others shared memories of those whose lives were honored through RSDM scholarships last month. Nearly $100,000 in funds were awarded to 40 students at the ceremony, which gave donors a chance to meet scholars.

Staff, Faculty Recognized
Dean Cecile A. Feldman expressed her appreciation for employees celebrating milestone work anniversaries at last month's holiday party, held at Nanina's in the Park in Belleville. Staff and faculty who've worked at RSDM for at least five years were recognized, with veterans who've been at the school for 25 years or more getting a special shoutout.
Rosivack Tapped as Interim Chair of Pediatric Dentistry
Dr. Glenn Rosivack
Dr. Glenn Rosivack has been named Interim Chair of Pediatric Dentistry and Community Health, Dean Cecile A. Feldman announced last month. He replaces Dr. Christopher Hughes, who resigned as Chair.
Taylor Named Director of Enrollment & Academic Support Services
LaToia Taylor, head of the Office of the Registrar, has been named Director of Enrollment & Academic Support Services. In her new role, Taylor will continue as Registrar and also assist with the development of new curriculum and explore additional ways to expand institutional support for students.
