Miss Widner's News
Dear Students, Parents, Grandparents, and Staff,
Happy St. Nicholas Day! I hope all of you were surprised with good things and not coal! I can remember growing up when we hung our Christmas stockings at the fireplace. Waking up the morning of
St. Nicholas Day was almost as big of a day as Christmas!! When my mom was still living, I would shop with her to fill the stockings of her grandchildren, my nieces and nephews. She would even still buy gifts for her adult children! What wonderful memories and traditions we make with our families on these special occasions! St. Nicholas is a special occasion and saint for our church, and if you want to know more about his life, this link will help:
Advent is a busy season and don't forget to take the time to reflect on the season. We have our Christmas programs coming up next week on December 14 and 15. Show Choir, band, and guitar will perform Thursday, December 14 beginning at 7:00 PM. Preschool (4 year old programs), kindergarten, and grades 1-4 will perform at 1:00 on December 15th. Grades 1-4 will perform again at 7:00 PM on December 15th.  This is a great opportunity to fill your hearts with the Christmas spirit! We also have Advent Reconciliation on December 11 (Parish Reconciliation) at 6:00 PM and then the school's Advent service is December 18th. Grades 2-5 will be at 9:30 and grades 6-7-8 will be at Noon. All are invited to attend either Reconciliation service. What a wonderful way to renew your soul and fill it up with Advent grace!

Happy Advent!

December 4-7
Dear Students and Parents,
The first graders will be sponsoring their annual "Goodies for God" cookie sale December 4-7.

All first graders are involved in this project. It is both a stewardship and an educational experience for the children.
Our first-grade parents will be selling cookies for .25 each from 8:00-2:00 in the Atrium of the school.  This would be a great time to buy goodies to make up your holiday tray!!
Support our 1st grade class as they sell baked goods in our school atrium
December 4-7! Help our kids raise money for a charity as decided on a yearly basis. Last year's first grade class sold 4,616 cookies and raised $1,154.00 for the Women's Care Center. Thank you for your support in helping our kids raise money for those in need!

Bishop Luers invites all to Lessons and Carols
Bishop Luers High School will host the Festival of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Saint Francis of Assisi.
The Festival of Lessons and Carols is a service of Scripture and song that dates to the late 19th century. In this service, the faithful listen to nine Scripture lessons, which recount the Fall, the promise of a Messiah, the Incarnation, and the Great Commission to preach the Good News. Each lesson is followed by a carol or other song that reflects on the lesson's message and a brief prayer.
Bishop Luers liturgical choirs, directed by Kristopher Andorfer, will lead the music.
Lessons and Carols follows the Bishop Luers Middle School Art Fair from 2-4 p.m. Artwork of sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade feeder school students will be featured throughout the lobby and front of the school. All are invited.
